This week they just posted <a href="https://www.missionlogpodcast.com/the-one-with-mike-mcmahan/" target="_blank">a great hour-long interview with Mike McMahan</a>, and I have so much more appreciation for Lower Decks than I already did.<br /><br />I mean, I really enjoyed watching Lower Decks, but now that I see a little of where he’s coming from, it’s clear that he’s one of us. I know that’s a cliché, but he talks about how studios shouldn’t worry about confusing their audience, they should worry about <em>boring</em> their audience—in the streaming era especially, people are actively choosing which shows to watch, so the goal should be to make it more complex and interesting, and also more conducive to rewatching.
