A good episode, although I don't think it quite hit the heights the show did towards the end of last season.

The A plot involves Freeman, Mariner, and Ransom all being displeased with the new "normal" onboard the Cerritos. Freeman and Mariner are starting to get irritated with each other working together so much, and Ransom is feeling shut out.

Mariner's workout holoprogram makes Worf's seem tame.

The opening credits have been slightly altered to include the Pakled frankenships in the Borg/Romulan battle.

Mariner cleaning off the Alien of the Week's building accidentally sets off some device that gives Ransom godlike powers. Lots of Gary Mitchell references ensue.

Underappreciated first officer gains godlike powers and goes on a rampage... Hmm, sounds really familiar. [Wink]

I think this is our first confirmation that Mariner's father is also named Freeman. If that's the case, where'd she get "Mariner" from?

Ow! You gotta feel for poor Ransom. First Mariner kicks him repeatedly in the "neutral zone", and then T'Ana drops a boulder on him for good measure.

Freeman and Mariner agree to not work as closely... and Mariner gets thrown in the brig.

The B plot has Tendi worrying that Rutherford has changed so much as a result of losing his memories that he won't like her anymore.

Darn it, Tendi! You've ticked me off both as a Trekkie (denying us a look at cetacean ops) and as a heterosexual male (denying us a swimsuit scene with Barnes and her friends)! Aw, who am I kidding, I can't stay mad at Tendi.

Yeah, f*** pears!

The last scene is with Boimler onboard the Titan. Riker is still desperately in need of new catchphrases. Also, new Pakled ship, I think. "Battle harpies"?

Ah, it feels so good to have that show back. Kicking back a beer and enjoying 20 minutes of TNG nostalgia is so relaxing.

Nothing says “welcome to the Federation” like having some random technology start causing weird electromagnetic shit to happen on your planet.

Lots of recognizable ships in that holo-Cardassian outpost, too! Jem’Hadar fighter, Bajoran interceptor, multiple Danubes and Peregrines (or Federation fighters depending on who you ask), even two copies of the Delta Flyer. Also a Nausicaan ship, a Klingon D5, and multiple Hidekis. There was one design that looked generally like a Romulan bird of prey but was definitely not the TOS version — it was reminiscent of various fanmade movie-era Romulan ships. And of course the USS MacDuff. Nice to see the classic TWOK Miranda bridge again.

Not only were the Pakleds in that Borg battle in the opening credits, I spotted a few Klingon birds of prey too. That scene is turning into an interstellar demolition derby! It looked like the Pakleds were fighting *with* the Borg?!

Fred Tatasciore is still in the opening credits. Is he voicing the replacement security officer too?

Did a little research, and I’m pretty sure this is the Romulan ship seen in the holodeck program… talk about another obscure reference!

It was okay, I guess. It felt like it was just trying to ride the references.

Y'al missed the Voyager theme as Mariner vibes the scum off the building.
