Okay, we know what the Federation Flag looks like. My question is: the piece of music played before the baseball game in DS9 (Double entendre) - was that the Federation anthem?

If so, cool - a Federation political detail I never knew.

I've always assumed it was. Either that, or it's something made just for the program. I think it's probably the Federation anthem.

Well, I am sure that they did indeed make it up for this episode (if you listen closely, there are definite similarities between it and the DS9 theme. In the same vein, the Federation flag was 'made up' for 'The Wrath of Khan' so that they could drape Spock's coffin/tube - but it still 'became' the official flag. Therefore I think it is the Federation anthem

Oh, it was definitely made up just for the episode... I meant that it was possible that it was something the Vulcan had made up just for his baseball program... to have some kin do fan anthem in it since Baseball games always had an anthem. But I doubt it. I think it's more likely that that it the Federation Anthem they played and they stuck it in the program for the same reason as before... because you play an anthem before a baseball game...

As national anthems go it's not that bad and it most certainly could have been alot worse.
I half expected it to be the TMP/TNG score. Perhaps that's Starfleet's own anthem, services do have their own seperate anthems don't they?
[EDIT: To clarify, I meant that the TMP theme could be Starfleet's own ditty...not that it matters]

Let's have a look at the script and see what the writer's intention was.

Now we just need some words.
Anyone feeling creative?

I don't think it necessarily needs lyrics. I kind of like the idea of the Federation having a very short instrumental anthem.

Well if it doesn't have words it's not really an anthem is it?
Federation National Tune doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Well, it wouldn't be "national", either.
Call it "The Federation Ditty".
