I noticed that Fabrux had written a short story called "Star Trek: Dark Horizon". He gave no hint in his title that this was a short story. I feel that someone writes a short story and posts on the web, he or she should alert others in the title that this a story.

I'm not quite sure what you're driving at, but you can name threads whatever you like. This is entirely different than putting spoilers in the title of a thread.

What I am driving at-
The title can suggest that this is about a series. When it isn't, it is deceiving. Remember, there is much talk of a new series.

So? Fabrux created something that he wanted to share with us. He can name his threads anything he wants to. I don't see a problem here.

I think the issue here is that the title is reminiscent of a recent Voyager ep, and therefore might be avoided by people not wanting to be spoiled?

Well, that's one way to end this thread.

Oh, please. Methinks someone is just a bit miffed about being taken to task for posting REAL spoilers.
And actually, there is very, VERY little talk of a new series that doesn't fit into the realm of "sheer speculation and wishful thinking"

Trinculo,
If you looked at Fabrux's posting more closely, he said it was an EXCERPT from ST: Dark Horizon...

I think he means that people who would like reading these 'stories' would miss out cause they might think they are stories...
can't we have
Speculation here people:
'The Dominion' - WYLB $$$$
'The Ferengi' - FLS $$
'Artuis' - HAF $$$
etc.
then for other stuff its easy...
ST: Dark Horizon - fanfic
i.e. noncommital titles - that inform but DON'T spoil.
or creative titles like -
"Give me your undergarments and I will dance" - $$$$ WYLB
------------------ "I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die, while you discuss this invasion in a committee" Queen Amidala - Star Wars: Episode 1, The Phantom Menace

I rather thought he meant that he thought Star Trek: Dark Horizons might be a possible new series, and was disappointed when it turned out to be "only" a fanfic story.
I agree, though, that adding "fanfic" to a thread title might help. It's only six little letters..

I like the idea of someone's short story being labeled fanfic.

Is his use of the words "Dark Horzion" a problem? So what if there was an episode called "Dark Frontier?" Ther've been lots of those re-using of book titles for episodes and vice-versa. Like DS9's The Siege.
