One of our local TV channels just showed Dark Frontier, while the tape release of the 2 episodes after Dark Frontier was just a few days ago. This means that next month our TV channel will show episodes before they come out on tape.
Is there any word on a speed up of tape releases or something??

I'm not sure, but I think those CIC people had better work something out, assuming this isn't only in your area.

It's already happened here. BSkyB are way ahead of the video releases, so people obviously get to see them early.
The guys at CIC are a bunch of idiots. There could be another explanation, that they have a deal with Sky to let them show trhe episodes first. However, this again is lunacy because CIC will be losing revenue from the rental (and purchasing for those that tape the episodes off TV).

*Sighs* Debate's been done boys -- I remember typing a big spiel on this very subject. I'd go find the Topic but I can't even remember what Forum it was on, never mind the thread title.

They lose revenue, but not from me I'm afraid because I don't have BSkyB, so can't watch Trek earlier than videos. *sobs*

CIC released DS9 7.10 and VOY 5.10 here in Australia last week. I would think that the same tapes would be out now in the UK. I'm not sure about other regions, though.

I can get UK tapes, but tapes with Dutch subtitles are in the stores within 2 weeks of the UK release.

7.10? 5.10? What does that mean?

With two episodes per tape and therefore 13 tapes per season.

Exactly - 7.10 has "Strange Bedfellows" and "TCFoE". I would have thought they were numbered like this worldwide.

They are also numbered like that in the UK and in The Netherlands. And the last release here is 5.9 and 7.9 (they may have added 5.10 and 7.10, they sometimes release 4 tapes instead of 2).

In the UK Voy 5:10 and DS9 7:10 were scheduled for Oct. 18th but were actually released yesterday (Oct. 11th). It's now anybody's guess what the schedule is now. I suspect the it will be something like 5:11 & 7:11 in early/mid November, 5:12 & 7:12 in early December and the season finale at the end of December

I reckon they'll get both 12 and 13 of DS9 and Voyager - out for Christmas.

As far as I know, they are numbered like so worldwide, but most fans are oblivious to the numbering system since most live in the U.S.

I've said it before but I'll say it again - you Americans are so lucky. You get everything first. And I'm not just talking about Trek. Sometimes it feels like I live in the ass end of the world (Australia).

I just broke the bank yesterday to get DS9 7.10, and I still haven't gotten around to seeing it. That's what you get for having two 3-hour labs on a Wednesday.
But come the night...

::Learns of the secret conspiracy of why VCR's are different than in America:: It's so people like me can't record an episode, or buy it at a store for about $15 and send it to you.
