OK this started over at aus.sf.star-trek

anyway - so many people get the names wrong (spelling) - and then began trying to list all of the FULL NAMES of the characters and semi-major characters. I still can't remember a few details - like Bariel's first name.

and Cassidy's second name? maybe heard when they get married? "'Til Death Do Us Part"?

Did we hear Jake's Second name. maybe heard in "The Visitor"?

Also I think we may have heard Kai Opaka's second name - in "The Collaborator"?

What was Leeta's Surname? Did we hear it in "Call To Arms"? at their wedding?

I suppose Dukat's first name being Elmo remains mercifully non-canon. . .

I think that it is Shakaar Edon and Bareil Antos, but I'm not sure.

And Garak does not have an "e" in it.

And what, praytell, is wrong with "Elmo?" (Other than the fact that an annoying little red creature happens to have the same name?)

Wasn't Wesley's middle name Eugene, in a turnaround of Roddenberry's names?

I'm not sure if it's canon, but ST:Magazine issue 7 says that Uhura's first name is Niota...

Avtually, it should "Kai Winn Adami" not "Adami Winn".

Too bad we never found out Opaka's given name.

Wasn't Janeway's second name mentioned somewhere?

I didn't read all the above names, so I don't know if this one is mentioned: Harry Si Kim (as said in a thread a few weeks ago)

Yes, B'Elanna L. Torres. It's canon.

OK, I altered the above entries for

Kasidy (sure that's right?) Danielle Yates
Harry Si Kim
Wesley Eugene Crusher
Kai Winn Adami (silly me )

I'm not sure about Netoia Uhura - supposedly this was said in Star Trek: IV - I've also seen the spelling Nettoya - can anyone give me a good source for the name?

I'm sure these characters have middle names, I don't have time to fish through my video collection - but maybe some one could do at least one - maybe its showing where you are at the moment?

Jake Sisko possibly heard in "The Visitor"?
Leeta's surname - possibly heard in "Call To Arms"?
conformation on Bariel's and Shaakar's names - possibly in "Resurrection" and "Shakaar" respectively

and Opaka's first name - possibly heard in "The Collaborator"

Should Chakotay be "Son of ..." - can't remember his father's name - it started with a K - and you saw him in "Tattoo". I liked that idea of him seeing his Father... wish they kept that up.

It's Nyota, and it wasn't used anywhere. Another thing.
If Odo's original name was Odoital, which was then divided into Odo Ital, shouldn't he go by Ital instead of Odo? It was the Bajorans that named him, after all.

Odo'ital is Cardassian for unknown. The Bajoran scientists took the word and, as a bit of fun, split it like a Bajoran name; Odo Ital. Overtime it was just shortened to Odo.

Perhaps Odo preferred to be called "unknown" than to be called "sample".

The name "Nyota" for Uhura apparently stems from some fans' determination that everyone have at least two names. I'm surprised there isn't an agreed-upon fandom surname for Spock, too. Anyway, "Nyota" is apparently Swahili for something. I think it's "star". But, then, there's also the fandom name "Upenda", which might be the one that means "star" (I know one of them does), but I don't think so. Anyway, it's no more canon than the idea that McCoy's middle name is Horatio, or if I were to declare that Wesley Crusher had a second middle name of "Weaselmonger".

Was Jadzia Dax' original surname never given?

Shoudln't Jake's name probably actually be Jacob?

Ishka was daughter of Adred.

Bareil is spelled w/ an "ei".

How many Weyoun's were there, anyway? Wasn't it eight?

Someone should see if Martok was ever referred to as "son of" such-and-such.

Lwaxana is spelled w/ an 'a', not an 'o'.

Chakotay's father was Kolopak.

Well, seeing as how both Roddenberry and Nichelle Nichols think Niota should be Uhura's first name, I have no problem with it.

Thanks TSN

I think I'll just leave it as 'Uhura' for the moment.

I think there was an episode (Return to Eden?) Where Spock tells his 'love intrest' that his first name is unpronouncable - by humans at least.

Jadzia's Family name was NEVER given *feels jipped* There was SO much I wanted to know about Jadzia - I especially wanted to meet her mother - whom she mentioned at least once.

I will add/alter to the list

Ishka daughter of Adred
spell it Bareil
Chakotay son of Kolopak
also I though

Catherine!?! Pulaski
and
Joe Carey are other 'major' players.

Oh. and I was debating with my self - yes DEBATING (dirty little buggers ) wether to spelt it Lwoxana or Lwaxana... I knew Lwoxana didn't seem right. Thanks

wait maybe its Katherine Pulaski - is it even K/Catherine?

Why should Jake's second name be Jacob??

You know we NEVER got to meet Judith Sisko - Ben's sister - she lived... somewhere - it was mentioned though - and she couldn't cook.

Oh OH! and yes, I think Dr. Mora Pel!?! should be added as a semi-major player at least...

Dr. Mora what WAS his first name?

With reference to Sisko's siblings, Judith was mentioned in 'Homefront' as helping Joe Sisko out in te restaurant when he was getting his new aorta.

Oddly, we never see or hear again about his brothers, who were mentioned in 'Paradise'.

*Is sure that Jake's second name wasn't mentioned in 'The Visitor'*

Yes, Shakaar's first name goes something like "Edon" alright - witnessed in 'Shakaar'.
Bareil Antos rings the 'Ressurection' bells also.
Yates' middle name was mentioned in 'Till Death Do Us Part' - I'm positive it was Danielle.

And where the hell did you get Subatoi as Bashir's middle name? What ep?

I don't recall hearing Subatoi mentioned in 'Dr. Bashir, I Presume?' -- I'll have to wait until the weekend when I get home and fish out the video.

well maybe it WAS "The Wire" - I heard it in. I'm pretty sure his mother mentions it though.

Oh, I also added Alyssa Ogawa (how could I forget)

Thinking, should we include Sonya Gomez, Robin Lefler, Sito Jaxa, Theresa McKnight (conn officer) and Kukalaka

oh how about 'The Traveller'
