According to "Trekweb" (http://db.trekweb.com/stories/1999/11/16/942799344.html) a new series has been approved by Paramount for January 2001 premiere. Supposedly, it will be set "150 years" in the future. (Does this mean a birth of the Federation show! Hurrah!)

Also, an unconfirmed second-hand rumor that the ST 10 movie will not be just a TNG movie but will use selected cast from TNG, DS9, and Voyager.

*passes out grains of salt*

I'd bet that "150 years in the future" probably means 150 years after the TNG/DS9/VOY period. Assuming anything about this is correct at all.

You know, it's fruitless to actually believe any of this. For all we know it could be disinformation. So, I'll choose to not think anything of any of these rumors [Ship 3x the size of a Galaxy? My ass.], and I'll just play my Atari.

Right on brother Maguns! Damn the man! Seriously, I beilieve that it is a waste of creative energy to try and figure out which rumors may have a grain of truth to them. We should just come up with our own ideas!

I have to disagree. While I can't vouch for the accuracy of any rumor appearing on the web, I think it can be fruitful (and fun) to keep track of them.

Jeez, what a sorehead. But if these rumors turn out to be true (fat chance), you'll thank me (well, probably not)

Go to trektoday.com if you read it, you'll see that those rumors aren't true. Heeh, I find it hard to believe anyone would believe a rumor given by a guy who write's novels about Captain Proton. Ah well

Personally heard rumors for the next movie:*

"Q AND Borg... as the threat grows exponentially when they strike in both the Gamma and Alpha quadrants..."

"The Trial of the Eon, as the Female Shapeshifter strikes a deal for an alliance..."

"We're going to create ten altogether new ship classes, and blow half of them up..."

And perhaps the biggest spoiler of all...

I'll be in the secondary sub-story of the next movie.

As the focus of a love triangle between characters played by Callista Flockheart and Tori Amos.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I must admit while these lovely rumors are fun to play with after awhile they become dull, boring, and need to be put down for good. For as often as crap comes from these guys believing them is not much of an option in my book.

No, Andrew, it wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at rumors and those who spread them. In general.

Believe me, if I aimed a post at a specific person, they'd know it.

And Tori rules. I finally got to see her in concert this past September. Damn!

Heh heh - OK, Its just that if you check my profile - I have Tori and Ally in my likes...

You lucky lucky bastard... you've seen Tori in concert

I have yet to see her - she did come to Australia for LE and UTP tours, but I became a fan just after the UTP tour... and she never came for BFP nor FTCH...

Lucky bastard

I got the following here:http://db.trekweb.com/stories/1999/11/08/942109427.html

"An attendee reports that he confirmed that a fifth series is indeed "in the works," according to the student attendee, and Paramount has chosen a story premise presented by Rick Berman and himself. Braga also commented that the new show will be VERY different, with "close to zero technobabble" and would be very contemporary. Finally, he also confirmed that he will be staying with Voyager through its final seventh season. " - Posted: Mon Nov 08 20:03:47 1999

"Contemporary"? Contemporary to our time? This doesn't sound good at all. Will it be a pre-pre-TOS show? This wouldn't be much of Star Trek anymore.

not to start an inter-trek-board conflict, but I think the rumors at trekweb are about as reliable as my psychic predictions for the future.

Agreed. Go to trektoday.com and warp11.com more reliable. As far as rumors go.

Better yet, all rumormongers should be tarred, feathered, and vigorously sued. And their files handed over to the IRS.

Here's the latest from Trek Galaxy News:

Rick Berman and Brannon Braga have, for the second time, pitched Paramount their concept for Series 5, the new, unnamed Trek series set to begin in August 2000 or January 2001. The concept was evidently a Trek prequel set around the time of the Federation's birth. And Paramount turned them down cold.
