What is still weird and/or scary enough for a 24th century Area 51 kinda thing? I mean, the entire alien plot is useless, because there seems to be at least one new race every two episodes. Any ideas??
I thought of one thing: secret experiments on Borg drones.

Yes, I know that it is the infamous Section 31. I'm just wondering what the hell is weird enough in the 24th century to cause Area-51-like stories, since anything seams possible in that time!!

Like I said, S31 HQ. With all the stuff they do, their headquarters would be the Area 51 of the 24th century.

The galaxy is still a huge place. Even in Star Trek they don't know everything about it. Q said to Picard that they haven't even begun to understand what is out there (or something like that).
