In Voyager's "One Small Step" we see the stardate printed onscreen in current-day naval style instead of the usual log entry that tells us the date. Have we seen this before, and/or will it be used more often in the future?

Hope they don't. Sounds too JAG/Pensacola to me. Are there any other examples of contemporary military-shows using it? IIRC it started in "The Hunt For Red October", with that specific font and sound-effect.

Pensacola as in Wings of Gold I take it. What a horribly lame show. I lived in Pensacola for 4 years and it's rather odd how on camera it looks like southern California cause it certainly doesn't look like that at all. The show revolves around the Marines right? There are no Marine bases in Pensacola. The only airfield is Naval Air Station (NAS) and the only fighters based there are the F-18 Blue Angels.
Ok...I think I've griped enough.

seaQuest DSV, and of course, the X-Files use(d) a similar technique.
Stardate graphics have been used several times on Trek. Emissary comes to mind right away.

In "Court Martial", the spelling is Star Date. By the third movie, the spelling is Stardate. And in that movie, we see for the first time the onscreen graphic of a stardate. The USS Grissom NCC-638 is seen orbiting the Genesis Planet and a line of printed text appears-"Stardate 8210.30".

Showing the stardate onscreen seems to usually be a method of heightening the drama of a scene without having to interupt it with a voiceover.
