Apparently in this movie Picard will meet his death at the hands of an old enemy possibly Sela!

They're going to kill off Picard before making him an admiral? Geez.

BTW, why is Picard still a captain? Was he ever even offered an admiral's rank?

He's been offered an admiral's rank at least once, but turned it down. The admiralcy is probably something you have to pursue. I don't think Picard is interested.

"Apparently"?

Darkstar, I just want to help here. If you make it a habit to divulge HOW you found this out it will give you more to write about, plus we would get more interested in the topic at hand.
Like "Last week I spoke with a guy at Paramount who said..."
Or "In an interview in the "Daily Blah" I saw a small article metioning..."

Also, you didn't need to start a new thread dealing with the exact same topic, you could've continued in the other "Series 5" one, we will listen.

Yes, DS, you have a VERY bad habit of making declarations, without listing your source. Runabout specs, 29th century Federation "observations", this. People aren't going to listen unless we know your source. Otherwise, it looks like it's something you just made up, and it'll get ignored.

In other words, the pimply-faced fanboy at the Qwick-E-Mart is NOT a reliable source.

I'm not even sure they've finished writing the thing yet.

I have heard that the Romulans will most likely be in the next film, but I haven't heard anything about Picard dying or Sela being in the movie. There is apparently supposed to be a new villian of the "Khan" caliber, but Sela would not be my first choice.

I've read this Picard-rumor yesterday on a teletext-site of the British TV-station Sky One (page 192).

Darkstar, instead of making a new topic, you could have just added your statement to AndrewR's "Star Trek X" thread that was only seven posts down the list (well, eight now, with my response).

I've gotta agree with Vogon on this - Sky One's Star Trek page is usually nothing but bullshit.

It's usually sensationalised so that people will phone up the infoline and pay the 1 a minute or whatever it is to hear the latest rubbish spewed from someone's backside.

Apparently This is what Jonathon Frakes (Will Riker) has been saying in interviews stateside.

There might have been a more positive response from the others if you'd said that in the first place.

And it should still be backed up by some reliable source.

I mean, I could say "Marina Sirtis has been saying that they're going to produce an X-Rated version of the new 'Star Trek: Dark Passions' books from Pocket," but that wouldn't make it believable.

And Jonathan Frakes hasn't been saying anything of the sort, anyway. This is just some rumour that appeared at some con. Therefore it probably IS a con.

Cinescape would have some details on it if there was any truth to the rumor- and I see none.
