Sounds like a cool game.

Read three (three!) chapters of "Dirk Tungsten in...The Disappearing Planet"! Then, go insane!
Still, BC looks impressive, but it's not just about pretty graphics. Playability is equally important, and that aspect tends to be forgotten in a lot of titles.

Monkeyboy: The original "Tie Fighter: Collector's Edition", with the added campaigns of the "Defender Of The Empire"- and "Enemies Of The Empire" additions. With ship-briefings narrated by Malcolm McDowell, and 640x480 res!!! Compared to 320x200, this was heaven!
Bridge Commander looks complicated. Nonetheless, I'll try it.

I like the way you can script evasive manoeuvres for use in battle.
Has anyone here played "Birth of the Federation"? Despite some shortcomings I thought it was pretty enjoyable.

open to our gaze, but which cannot be understood unless one first learns to
comprehend the language in which it is written. It is written in the language
of mathematics, and its characters are triangles, circles and other geometric
figures, without which it is humanly impossible to understand a single word
of it; without these, one is wandering about in a dark labyrinth."
