Encounter at Farpoint, The Battle, Heart of Glory, Arsenal of Freedom, Big Goodbye, Conspiracy from Season One ...
I'll also wind up getting Hide and Q, Haven, Coming of Age, Symbiosis, The Neutral Zone. Eh, I can live with it. I forget what Symbiosis was about, and Haven and Hide and Q were pretty bad, but Coming of Age was a fairly good episode.
Nothing from Season Two. I don't think I liked a single episode. Wait -- Peak Performance ... which would also have Shades of Grey on the disc (YUCK!)
Season Three ... Wow! Maybe the whole season. My favorites were The High Ground, Tin Man, BoBW pt I, Yesterday's Enterprise, Ensigns of Command, the Hunted and The Defector. Speaking of which, have any of our British posters SEEN The High Ground? Wasn't it banned over there?
Season IV would have to include BOBW2(which would come with FAMILY!, The Wounded, Drumhead and Redemption pt. 1
So... Season V would begin with Redemption II and Conundrum, Cause and Effect, Inner Light and Time's Arrow.
Season VI is easy ... Time's Arrow Pt. II, Tapestry, Starship Mine, Second Chances, Timescape...
Season VII .... Gambit I & II, Lower Decks, Preemptive Strike and All Good Things.
Anyway, that's where I am right now. I'd be hopeful for "extras" on these discs, but this is Paramount. Actually, if we could have the "next time, on Star Trek The Next Generation" episode teasers, I'd be THRILLED.

I actually surfed on over to eBay. I figure, why pay $24.99 for a two-episode DVD of The Next Generation when I can pick up a used laser-disc at a fraction of the cost? $7.95 per disc, actually. Woo-hoo! Give me a couple months as people post their Laserdisc collections, and I'll have every 'ep I want (and I'm sure a lot more will go up for bid once the DVDs hit the market).

Funny thing: Levar Burton and Jonathan Frakes came to Dublin for the Generations premiere. When quizzed about that episode, he said we didn't miss much, that it was a bit of a dud.

Star Trek: The Next Generation
THE HIGH GROUND
The Enterprise is at the planet Rutia, delivering medical supplies. The planet is un-aligned (not a member of the UFP), but has a long standing trade arangement with the Federation. Due to the violent terrorist attacks by the Ansarta Seperatists (who want atonomy for their homeland on the Western Continent) in recent years, Picard instructs all landing parties to beam down armed. Dr Crusher, Data, and Worf are in a cafe on the planet's surface when a bomb explodes, injuring several people. Crusher tends to them, despite Picard's orders to beam to the ship. "I don't want to be in the transporter room to greet her," Riker tells Picard. An Ansarta terrorist *appears* (out of nowhere), kills a Rutian police officer, grabs Crusher, and *disappears* just as quickly.
Aboard the Enterprise, Data states that the Ansarta are not using normal transporter technology. They just "appear" and "dissapear" at will. The signal from her communicator is undetectable -- it is either deactivated, or she is in a shielded location. When Picard asks why Dr. Crusher was kidnapped -- because the Ansarta fight doesn't involve the Federation -- Worf points out that it does now.
Kirol Finn is the leader of the Ansarta cell that grabbed Dr. Crusher. He tries getting her into some chit-chat, but fails.
Troi and Picard break the news about Dr. Crusher's kidnapping to Wesley, and Picard assigns him to work with Geordi and Data, who are investigating the "transport" technology used by the Ansartans.
Riker and Picard meet with Alexena Devos, the Chief of Police on Rutia. She tells them the Ansata have no policy on hostages, "they never take them." She gives the crew one of the terrorist's transport devices taken from a dead terrorist, and says that her technical people don't know what it is or how to use it. Later, Devos tells Riker she thinks only 200 people actually belong to the Seperatists, but there are lists of thousands of people who are sympathetic. Devos tells Riker that 70 years ago, they were denied independence, but "now it's just an excuse for more violence." She tells Riker about the 3 assassination attempts on her life, and about a bus full of children blown up by an Ansata bomb -- 60 died.
Finn removes Crusher's hand and foot-cuffs, and gives her food. Finn tells her that she was taken deliberately, that he needs the services of a doctor -- and who better than the Chief Medical Officer of the Federation Flagship? Crusher tries to reason with him -- "we just came here to deliver medical supplies. People were hurt." Finn: "I know, I hurt them." The Ansata have stolen some of the medical supplies, and want Crusher to help their people who are very sick -- dying. "Their DNA is warped," Crusher tells Finn. Finn reveals that "the invertor" is the cause -- it is a dimensional shifting device, which has "breathed new life" into the cause.
On the Enterprise, Data, Wesley, and Geordi figure out that it's a dimension-shifting when they detect faint nuclear vibrations. The Elway Theorum discusses this, and Data points out that "it proved to be inacurate. All experiements were stopped in the 22nd century. To use this technology would be an irrational act." "We may be dealing with irrational people, Data," Picard points out. When Data points out that to use the device is fatal, Picard replies, "it sounds like they may require the services of a doctor." Meanwhile, Geordi and Wesley are working on a way to "track" the device.
On the surface, Riker and Devos (and quite a few police) are rounding up people at the bombing site to interogate. When Riker inquires about the neccessity of rounding up a 10-year old boy, Devos says that the shuttle-bus bomb was set by a teenager. "In a world where children blow up children, everyone's a threat." During the interogations, Riker tells one man that the Federation is willing to negotiate.
Finn and Dr. Crusher get into a debate about terrorists and generals. "How much innocent blood has been spilled for the cause of freedom in your Federation? And now that you enjoy the comfort that comes from their battles, their immorality, you frown on MY IMMORALITY?" Finn snaps.
Well. I'm tired of typing. More later. Maybe.
