From TrekWeb (Original Article Here) quote:
TrekWeb received the following email from a London-based casting director who claims that the purported casting sheet floating around since yesterday is a fake. "My name is [confidential] and I'm a casting director in London. Having an office in New York allows me to obtain US casting information. "I'm afraid to say that all the information you have received about the next 'Star Trek' project is incorrect. The official information about the new show was given out a few weeks ago and the steps have been taken to ensure that information is kept confidential. "I truely believe that this is someone's idea of a practical joke. Even though the party in question went to extreme lengths to make the character info as a real document, it's a fake. "I hope you listen to my advice as it would be silly to promote something that wasn't real." The sender of this email revealed their name to TrekWeb and other sites, lending at least some credibility to the statements. Also, if true, at least it would seem to confirm that indeed casting information HAS gone out; though I am surprised that Paramount would be able to maintain such an astonishing level of confidentiality among the various casting agencies that may have received this.
What's really interesting it that when I initially rationalized posting this I recalled the MikeJonas summary of Insurrection. It was first hailed as the truth then everyone dove at it claiming it was too fannish and the already-known plot points could be counted off one by one. And in the end, a lot of rather loudmouted bigshots at TrekWeb, Deus among them IIRC, had to insert their feet frimly into their mouth when it turned out the summary was accurate. Of course, now, this is more analagous to the MikeJonas First Contact summary, which was a rather clever doctoring-job that was fairly readily accepted while being a work of fiction. Of course, Jonas had some info to base his summary on so it wasn't so bad. In any case, let's have a big salt fight. Evidently a few Trek News sites didn't spread it liberally enough early on, and well, sucks to be them. Well, I don't know. Actually, both of these could be false. Who knows? Also, that casting info from earlier could be deliberate "dis-information" from TPTB, so ... ARGH!Off to sulk... (And if Darkstar posts his damn "STAR TREK SERIES LOOK FOREWARDS!!!! NOT BAK!!!!" I'm going to kill someone. Probably him.) ------------------ Star Trek Gamma Quadrant Average Rated 6.27 out of 10 Smileys by Fabrux (with four eps posted) *** "Oh, yes, screw logic, let's go for a theory with no evidence!" -Omega 11:48am, Jan. 19th, 2001 **** "The candidate who slimed John McCain in the primaries and smeared Al Gore in the general election is now the president who pledges to elevate the nation's tone and bring civility to our discorse. Heh.I first read that TrekToday article at about 11 PM, so I was easily fooled. Then I read a commentary on it the next morning at the TrekBBS, and it all seemd so stupid. Characters like "Tos" ("TOS") and "Admiral Leonard" (McCoy) etc etc etc... The most interesting thing IMO is that the "real" cast sheet has been out for WEEKS, but kept under wraps. This is what ticks me off the most... I HATE how TPTB are stringing this along, evading the question, obfuscating, and maybe telling outright lies. Oh, well. ------------------ You know, you really should keep a personal log. Why bore others needlessly? The Gigantic Collection of Star Trek Minutiae

Yes. Where did they get this bizairre idea that we should learn about the show by watching it? I wanted to know what happened in the final DS9 episode 5 minutes after watching Emmisary, but I had to wait 7 bloody years before I saw it! I can't believe they kept me waiting that long!------------------ "And Mojo was hurt and I would have kissed his little boo boo but then I realized he was a BAD monkey so I KICKED HIM IN HIS FACE!" -Bubbles
