Chief Argyle Lt. Commander MacDougal Lt. Logan Leland T. LynchGod-damn the Enterprise-D went through a lot of CEOs! (Although, to be fair, Argyle actually appeared in two DataLore and Where No One Has Gone Before and was mentioned in Lonely Among Us). I've come up with a theory. not neccessarily a good theory, but a theory none-the-less... The Enterprise-D was still on her shakedown cruise during the first season. Starfleet Engineering rotated different engineers aboard the ship to make sure that the Enterprise got a correct evaluation, with each engineer possibly spotting problems that others hadn't. Once the shakedown was over, Picard was allowed to promote LaForge to CEO (a position Picard may have decided he wanted LaForge at ever since the bit about the shuttle engine). I'm sure that there was a logical explaination for having several people be in charge of Engineering, such as Picard testing people to see who would be best for the job. But behind the scenes, Rodenberry must have waited to see which character would be best as the chief engineer since he had two characters that had no real job: LaForge and Worf. ------------------ "Oh for fuck's sake, stop your moaning, If you fancy a threesome at this time of night, you can't get start getting choosey about which particular three! -Queer As Folk, UK

yeah, in one episode, the dumbass, i mean wesley, makes some machine that emulates picard calling down all senior officers by NAME, except for the engineer. it really pissed me off too.------------------ "You put the geeks on the left and the stalkers on the right and you run for daylight up the middle" - William Shatner, discussing a Star Trek Convention on EW-

That would be The Naked Now. And I think that what Wesley's machine says is, "Chief Engineer MacDougal to the bridge." Then it sends the Assistant CEO to sickbay. It only calls them two If Tasha hadn't died -- who would've gotten CEO? Worf or Geordi? Interesting thought ... Actually, the reason that Argyle left the show was because the actor who played the role began pushing the fans to push TPTB to increase his role. TPTB didn't like that, and hence, Lt. Logan came along. ------------------ Star Trek Gamma Quadrant Average Rated 7.64 out of 10 Smileys by Fabrux (with six eps posted) *** "Oh, yes, screw logic, let's go for a theory with no evidence!" -Omega 11:48am, Jan. 19th, 2001 **** And homeschooling also turns you into a socially well-adjusted person, capable of talking to people without them wanting to ram a f***ing chair down your throat! - PsyLiam, 3/11/01
