Don't know about TNG, but there was (I am going on Encyclopedia data here) an Ensign Bennet in VOY:"Innocence". He was killed that shuttle incident (how original!) which brought Tuvok and the 'children' together, IIRC. (He was played by Richard Garon)

There are also a RAdm. Bennet from "Doctor Bashir, I Presume" and an Admiral Robert Bennet from STV:TFF.

No, Ensign Bennett! You know, the gold-shirt who appeared thoughout TNG. Picard finally gave him a name in Evolution.

The only thing listed for Evolution in the TNG companion is "Crewman #1: Randal Patrick"
