Please no new Seven of Nine, no Scott Bakula and no Captain Proton style. :-(
Fellow technophyles - weep. I hope that the control consoles are at least reminiscent of Cochrane's Phoenix - not TOS...

Personally, I've completely HAD it with Vulcan officers. We know all we have to know about them, and without a Kirk and a McCoy a Vulcan just doesn't work (see Tuvok). What about another alien, like an Andorian or a Tellarite? We have a lot to learn about a lot of Federation races.

I have to agree. Even though Tim Russ did a PERFECT Vulcan - he probably has been the best Vulcan to grace our screens since Spock and Sarek. There was nothing for him to work with, there was nothing for him to play off. They handled the character badly. I think they used the idea of a Vulcan character as a gimmick to get viewers in, but then they did NOTHING with him. It sounds like they might be heading down that same road. Adding a Vulcan character for people who don't watch Trek, and then doing nothing with it. I agree also that we need to explore some 'old races' with 'new characters'.

Deep Space Nine and The Next Generation did GREAT without any Vulcan characters. I don't understand why they think they've got to have one ...

It would make sense since Vulcans were one of the first members of the Federation. But, as has been pointed out, they've done it to death. At this point it's going to be a "Hmmm, even people who have never watched Trek before know who Spock is" kinda of thing.

Oh, great. More human characters. Thos have been done to death. Why do they think that there have to be humans in every series? There's nothing for them to play off of...
See how silly that is? Why not have a Vulcan character? We need more aliens, anyway. A Vulcan character doesn't need to be something "special". It's just another character, who happens to have pointed ears and green blood...
