Well, I really like it. The similarities to the Insurrection Poster actually make it believable as something Paramount would do. The one thing that gives it away, IMNSHO...the shot of the Ent E is the standard over-used publicity shot that is on every other piece of printed material involving the current Enterprise. Find a more original angle and I think it'll work better.
That and Frakes spells his first name, "Jonathan"
As far as the design nitpicking goes (keep in mind I only take the time to nitpick what I like), in the text at the bottom, I wouldn't separate the words "Star Trek". In fact, I wouldn't break up "based upon Star Trek created by Gene Roddenbury"...but definitely not Star and Trek.
You may also want to sharpen Picard's eyes a little. His eyes should be a focal point.

Actually I enjoy Star Trek so much I'll watch anything trek. No matter how bad(Final Frontier) or good (First contact)it gets I will watch it for the love of Trek. And if i saw a poster that said the last battle has begun, i wonder what's the last battle. It's just a marketing ploy by by Paramount fill seats and for the poster why is Picard all blurred up. Phlox: Last battle means the last movie in the TNG era... although that slogan is a working slogan and will probably change before any marketing actually starts. Also, Picard is blurry for styling reasons, in the FC poster we get a clear view of the faces on it... in insurrection, we get a dimly bottom-lit transparent view of Rulafo's face. one thing is common in Trek posters: character faces.

Well, there's nothing wrong with doing a fun project based on a rumor that you hope is true. Now...if you had tried to pass it off as an official Paramount release...there would probably have been something a little wrong with that. But, hell, i do just for fun projects all the time.

IIRC, wasn't it "Man's greatest adventure has begun"? "The human adventure is just beginning." was the line shown at the end of the movie. (Or the other way around).

In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock one of the taglines was "Join the Search". For Final Frontier it was "The greatest Enterprise of all is adventure."

oh - that's right there was Star Trek 7.5 "Man and Machine"
Oh, please don't let the whole fucking next TNG movie fall around one 'secret' like Insurrection did - that was SOOOO lame - it was like "oh OK" for about 10 seconds - i.e. the revelation that the Son'a were originally Bak'u. Repeat viewings (or if you had been spoiled) made the Movie unwatchable. Not like Generations or FC, or TUC or the rest of the movies (except maybe TFF - which also had that 'twist' - sort of - cause you KNEW it wasn't going to be God). That really ran Insurrection into the ground having that one feeble plot twist holding up the entire movie.

The central focus in Insurrection, such as it was, was the Federation's deal with the Son'a, and the uncomfortable position that placed Picard and company in. The true identity of the Son'a and their motivations, while important to the resolution of the plot, are more or less irrelavant to the theme.

What's wrong with it being a PG-13? Is this an unusual rating for a Trek film?
For reference, here are their BBFC ratings:
TMP: U TWOK: 15 (probably for the death and the ear-wormage. This was before 12 ratings existed though, so today it would probably get a 12) TSFS: PG (I think) TVH: PG (Again, from memory) TFF: PG TUC: PG Generations: PG First Contact: 12 Insurrection: PG (or possibly 12. I don't care enough to remember).

Insurrection was PG and it was childish and cute at times. i really, really dont like that. First Contact was PG-13, and since that was my favorite Trek film I made Trek X PG13
