I'll be back tomorrow to point out some stuff.

Cool, I've got similar captures from the movies on my site, but these being DVD captures are superior. Jeez, I wish I had a DVD player.

To the right there is an alien with an unusual neck, right next to the admiral, and behind the two big aliens (Ariolo). Is this by any chance a Kasheeta?
These guys could be wearing the TMP Zaranite uniforms. Probably more human-looking aliens. I hope they're not supposed to be from that horrible Yanks vs. Commies episode.

And are those just two miditowers there!?

I think the scary lady in the first pic is from the Planet of the Living Dead...

Haven't looked at them yet, but can I use any good phaser ones I find?
Posted by Harry (Member # 265) on :
Sure you can. I wouldn't mind being credited, of course.
Same goes for anyone (*cough*Spike*cough*) interested in the uniforms.

Of course you get credit, old cucumber! Hmm, some good shots of the Son'a pistol, useful for when I get round to doing the alien weapons section. Somebody remind me in three and a half weeks to a)find a new ISP with more than 20 megs free web space (I've run out), and b) to register a phasery domain name. Unless someone wants to buy me one as a wedding present. 8)

Lee, I think I have a closeup or 2 of the 29th-century phaser from "Braxton Crusoe On Earth" if you want. Also, I'm, surprised you don't have the "exploded" schematics from the DS9 & TNG manuals.
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Sure. I have the TNG Tech Manual, I just never really thought it worth adding them. I think, I can't actually recall whether or not I considered adding them or not. . .

The Vulcan and human officers to the left wear some kind of rectangle-shape instead of the Enterprise insignia?
The colour of their shoulder bands is green - was that Medical in TMP? Maybe they aren't part of Starfleet? Just visiting scientists?
The white-haired guy looks like Mike Brady!!
Look on the right - there is that 'alien' woman again... I think it's her but with a 'screwed up' face looking at the V'Ger footage...
What 'department' is that Chocolate coloured uniform?
What is the blue alien there - a Betelguesean isn't it? They were seen again in TUC on Rurapenthe weren't they? Wish we could (have) seen a Westmorian version.
> That bearded man in his tight suit.. It could be just a human, but it could also >be one of the human-looking aliens.
I don't know but it looks like he's checking out the Porcelin Doll Lady next to him
I've always been intruiged with those Porcelin Doll Ambassadors!!
My theory has always been that those 'Vulcanoids' were Romulans.
1. They nodded in agreement with the Drama Queen Klingon Ambassador reguards Kirk 2. We know that at least in TUC the Romulan Star Empire had an Ambassador on Earth/To the Federation 3. The look rather nasty 4. Sarek is the Vulcan Ambassador 5. They looked pissed off/didn't react when Kirk's Captaincy was announced... when everyone else cheered.

That's who I thought it was before I clicked your links to see who or what a Kasheeta was.

They might be... but how would they be Fed members!?! They were no where NEAR Warp tech.
And the Zaranite Masks - I'm sure were used again but the Ambassador was wearing dark cloth that covered the head, I think.

Plus more evidence on my theory that Scotty and Uhura 'got together' and had a kid... Uhura... grandmother of Tryla Scott in "Conspiracy". She certainly has the "Breeding" for the youngest Captain ever.

Gads, didn't *any* two people in TMP wear the same uniform? It seems to me that as long as you wear some sort of insignia on the left breast, the little colored epaulets, and an outfit in some shade of that awful pastel grey, brown, tan, or white, you've got a Starfleet uniform!
Thank GOD they went with the drum corps majorettes in subsequent films...

I'm not surprised they skimped on costumes a bit for tons of extras in brief background scenes.. i dont think they ever anticipated that people would ever magnify ad examine DVD quality frames of their film for detail checking...

I think Starfleet just said, "Look just turn up - and wear what you like - as long as it is in Pastels ;o)
