but the next episode of "The X-Files" will be filmed like an episode of "COPS." What's happening to our sci-fi? (Actually, I didn't think "Tsunkatse" was that bad - and as for "The X-Files" I'll have to see.)

(By the way, I wasn't sure if this should be here or in general sci-fi discussion, so if anyone wants to move it, go ahead.)

That's not that bad of an idea, IMO, but they'd need a very able director and stuff.

Well, it depends, are they taking themselves seriously? That's Voyager's problem.

Well, when I saw the preview for the next X-Files, my first thought was "Oh, what the **** is that supposed to be?" But, then, I was really disappointed by the way they ended the whole Samantha arc, so I'm not to happy that they're following it up w/ a gimmick show...

How did they end the Samantha arc? I meant to watch it since I live in Sacramento and like exposure of our city (even though only the name was used and the episodes were filmed in LA), but I was boggled down with homework...damn college instructors!

I liked Tsunkatse, actually. And I think the COPS episode of The X-Files is another innovative and ground-breaking thing in that show's long history of, er, innovative things.

*shrug*

Well apparently Sam wasn't kidnapped by aliens but by the Cigerette Smoking Man's group where she was a lab rat. She escape when she was 14 to a local hospital where the nurse had a vision of her dead. When CSM's group got there she was missing.
Mulder finally reunited with his sister who was a spirit.

Oh no. Voyager doesn't take itself seriously at all. Yes, that's right, folks.

This should probably be in General SF.

Anyway, what about all the adult Samantha clones running around? Or that farm in Canada that was using preteen Samantha clones?

Well, like you said, they're clones. The original has been dead for twenty years.

Yes, but, WHY are there clones?

Wait a minute...the original is dead? Really? Well, that's something major.

Wait, spoilers! Worse, spoilers for a show not even mentioned in the title of the thread! Quick, someone needs to put auxiliary spoiler warnings in!

In that episode with the farm and the young Samatha clones? I remember it, who was the boy? Jeffery Spender, he was with Sam at April Base.

why? because series continuity went out the window ages ago.

This is the *SECOND* time they've pulled this 'Samantha wasn't really abducted by aliens' headgame on us [the first was "Paper Hearts."]

personally, I think the *idea* of doing X-Files as COPS is brilliant. I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago when Cops was a little more popular.

It just remains to be seen if execution can match idea.

And what the hell happened to the three Lone Gunmen?

According to rumor, the Lone Gunmen might be the focus of an X-Files spin-off...according to rumor.

I too, liked "Tsunkatse". Not a great ep, but a very good one. I saw this X-files this weekend, also came out well. Steve and Edie were great, and made the show.

Just to set the record straight. It was never known for certain that Samantha was taken by aliens. Mulder always believed that but it was never known...We never saw them take her, we only saw the light and the shaking of the walls, etc.

Also, there have been numerous suggestions throughout the series that the Syndicate was making it look as though aliens were taking people when, in fact, it was they that were taking them. Samantha not really being taken by aliens is not a huge shock people.

And the whole "Paper Hearts" thing was pretty much written off as a hoax.
