In the newest episode of Voyager, guess what small, three-person, half-Borg, half-Starfleet ship makes its reappearance? You guessed it - the DELTA FLYER! Yes, the ship is back, and surprise surprise, it looks kinda, well...kinda like NOTHING ever happened to it! This kind of crap is just stretching this series' believability factor like a rubber band. Even Tom Paris states in the ep that the Flyer was blown into a thousand pieces, in an almost joking manner. What is he saying, that he took the "thousand pieces" and glued them all back together perfectly within the timeframe of a few weeks? Well, there was a joke here, and the joke was on the loyal Star Trek viewing audience. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad that the Flyer is back; I like that ship. But this sort of makes any kind of emotional feeling you get when you see a beloved ship destroyed pretty much nil.

Someone in a previous post mentioned that when the original Enterprise was destroyed in ST:TSFS, the audience really felt something. I know I did. But this cop-out of totally destroying a ship and then having same ship reappear in the next episode is just too much.

Any thoughts?

I, too, commented on this to my fellow viewees. I think they're showing the episodes out of order, as I remember reading something about an episode regarding the new Flyer (GOD, I always HATED that name...). The stardate given in this one was 54102 or something like that...definitely 541xx. We'll have t'see.

And what's with that new twin joystick control shit goin' on?

Thinking about this post... I agree... I think now that they shouldn't have gotten a new Defiant... They should have had them all scattered around...

I think they should have left the flyer in that big suttle bay in the sky. The race they are going to have in the next episode (or one coming up) would have been a good reason to bring out the arowing. Now I love the flyer she is a good design. In fact I will go as far as to say that the flyer is second only to the danube class when it comes to useful designs.

I think that the episodes ARE out of order. Why would the next episode talk about building a new Delta Flyer?

I too noticed the new joystick control. Sorta like the Andromeda... Also, there's red in the cabin - on the seats, on a few consoles. Was it always like that?

The only reason why the new Defiant was the same as the old one was so that TPTB could reuse stock battle footage for the final episode. I also thought this was a cheat to the audience. It was the last episode, for crying out loud! They could have at least gone all out and made new battle footage with a new class of ship as the Defiant III. The Prometheus class would have been a good choice, since they already had the CGI model from "Ship In A Bottle."

Voyager got a copy of "Insurrection" in the last data stream from the Pathfinder project, and thought that Riker's joystick control was cool, so they decided to use it in the Delta Flyer II.

When I saw the new Delta Flyer, I started laughing. Enough said.

So, what else is 'new' on the Delta Flyer II? Did they update the name on the hull?

Since we ARE talking about this ep, I just thought I'd point out that the writers actually got some continuity right. Seven said she prefered the red pieces. In "The Gift", she said that the favorite color of the little girl she used to be was red. Someone deserves some kudos for that...

I read somewhere that production problems forced the eps to be out of order.

Actually, I believe the time between "Dark Frontier, part II" and "Imperfection" was a lot longer then a week or so. Maybe as long as a month. It would explain why the crew really had nothing to say about Janeway and co. being assimilated, because they had already discussed everything about it, and it was already old news. Besides, they built the Delta Flyer from scratch in the period of a single episode. I think they could easily repair it in the timeframe we saw.

And the Delta Flyer in "Drive" clearly read on the hull DELTA FLYER, no 2 or II anywhere.

Umm... you mean Unimatrix Zero, pt. 2?

And since "Drive" took place between the two...
