Wasn't the scene in Timeless the best starship destruction ever seen? How come it ended up in the Ice this was never explained or seen?

I think the crashing of the ship into the ice sort of explains that.

Glacial drift. Snowfall. The fact that it was half buried on impact. I had no problem believing that it would end up 10 meters down after 25 years.

But yes, the scene was awesome. I have to watch it two or three times every time I watch the episode.

Probably a lot of residual heat (from the landing, and from inside the ship) helped melt its way into the ice.

That would be my guess. A ship coming in that hot through the atmosphere is going to have a ton of residual heat on it. Impact+Melting= Initailly buried pretty deep. Also we don't know anything about the planet. It could have major warming and cooling cycles which causes large amounts of ice and snow to melt then refreeze. Without more information we really can't come up with an accurate reason for it to be buried that deep.
