I was wondering the other day what the Ent D would be like if Troi was killed off instead of Tasha. So here is what I came up with:
Picard- Same Tasha- Same Riker- Emotionally scarred at first Data- Same Worf- Promoted to Lt. JG and and Engineering/Tactical Divison and shares the Tactical console with Tasha. Geordi- Promted to Lieutenant and Cheif Engineere like he would. Bev- I guess she would leave and be replaced by Pulaski. All would have remorse and so on.
So what are your ideas if Troi left instead of Tasha?
PS: Charles, check your PM's. [ June 21, 2002, 20:41: Message edited by: The BWC ]

I think they would have brought in a new actor/actress to play a new ship's counselor. Otherwise, they'd either have an empty chair on the bridge to explain, or have to move Picard or Riker's chair.

Pretty much what Snay said. There really would be no changes except for a new councelor. [ June 21, 2002, 21:17: Message edited by: Dat ]

Bev could set there, because all trough the fisrt season you saw her on thise pads beside Riker and Troi for her and Wes.
But do you think the show would have turned out the way it did? That's what I'm looking for, a 24th century point of view.

I don't think the show would have been what it is today. Seriously. It's the little things people. And for all those people who say Troi did nothing. She did lots. And we wouldn't have had "Face of the Enemy".

Would have been a bit rough on Michael Dorn, I suppose. "I sense it needs to die!"

For Face of the Enemy, however, Tasha or or Ro could have. It was all a matter of plastic surgery.

I think a more interesting question would be how it would have worked out with Sirtis as security chief Hernandez and Crosby as Troi (or perhaps as a four-breasted Troi, had Roddenberry not been talked out of it by DC Fontana)

Four breasts. How cute. Thankfully, I never heard of that story. Well, now I have. And it is disturbing. Silly Rodenberry man.

I can't see Sirtis playing a security chief. Crosby did fine, though she definitely should have got some better writting and more screen time.
And, as for the four breasted thing... She did just fine with the two she had.
Had Troi, or some other empath, not been on the ship, it's likely that the entire crew would have died when the ship was caught in the Tyken's Rift with the Brattain (DON'T correct the spelling... I have no idea how we've agreed it should be spelled... ). I'm trying to think of other times that Troi has saved the day or made a big contribution to continuity....
I guess Thomas Riker would've been pretty bored when he finally got rescued... And Barkley would still be pretty screwed up having never got to see Troi in a toga and a bathing suit. And Alexander wouldn't have this fetich for big, curly hair having never gotten to take a mud bath with her...
I could go on...

I have read the stories on the four breasted Troi. I think no one would have taken Troi seriously with that many.

Mammacism runs rampant in the 20th century, but in keeping with Gene's vision, it'd most likely be eliminated in the 24th. There'd be no reason for us not to take her seriously. Except that she'd weep far to often when someone escaped from the brig.

Weasley Crusher would have developed some serious issues around her.

From a production POV, then yeah, I think Crusher would have spent most of her time sitting next to Picard. And Michael Dorn would have been very, very bored.
