Just copying this bit from a review of the Nemesis soundtrack - and as I feared - the repetitiveness of Goldsmith returns. OK, have to see the movie first, but After Insurrection's paint-by-numbers score - I'm sceptical.

quote:
The first part of Nemesis is eerie, atmospheric and pretty understated. It actually made me pretty sceptical as this music sounded so familiar. The electronic bass throbbing together with the pounding timpani and low piano, the usual odd rhythm meters; isn't this Goldsmith writing music in his sleep? Some quick research gave me the obvious answer. The music reminded me of U.S. Marshals and Executive Decision, and guess who directed those two action flicks? Nemesis helmer Stuart Baird, of course.

I HATE that Synthy bass shite he uses... used all through Insurrection, and then In other movies, where I've been able to pick it as scored by Goldsmith almost immediately while watching it due to that throbbing synthy thing. GAH!! And no those movies weren't the one's mentioned above which I haven't seen. So that means there are more movies out there where he reuses it! ARRGH!

Maybe they should have got Joel Goldsmith instead.

REALLY they needed freshblood in the composer's chair.

Just an addition about that review page - they might be full of shite - cause they give First Contact like a 2.5 or something. And haven't even reviewed TFF.

I must say, i quite liked the FC score; particularly the bit over the opening credits. Seemed to fit in with the mood of the film, if you know what i mean.

Is this really worth a spoiler warning?

Well, it might be a safe bet if someone were to mention a spoilerish name of a piece from the soundtrack, such as "Gee, didn't that bit of music called 'Requiem for Geordi' sound sad?" (NOTE: said track made up by me).

Kinda like how the Ep I soundtrack has "Qui-Gon's Funeral" on it...

Annakin should have died instead... or they should have pushed the little-boy-version into lava to turn him into Darth Vader in the first movie...

"Yippeeee! Ouch!"

The theme music was about all I liked about "Insurrection".
