I'll be seeing it on the 14th the day after it comes out. I've seen some previews, and it seems to interest me more than the previews for Insurrection (where they used stock footage to the Nth degree).

Yah it is!!
I don't know when I'll see it, but I'm definitely going to before the end of the year. I think my girlfriend and I are going to go on a movie theater marathon Christmas weekend and will probably hit that as one of our stops along with Die Another Day and Solaris.

Where was stock footage used in Insurrection?
Posted by MinutiaeMan (Member # 444) on :
Well, they used a lot of footage from "First Contact," most especially from the big Borg battle, which implied that there would be some Starfleet-versus-Starfleet combat in that movie.

I vaguely remember that. Anyway, since I work on Fridays, I'll probably be seeing Nemesis either the following day or on one of my off-days the following week. I could probably make an evening showing on Friday, but I despise going to the movies at that time of day.
Posted by The Mighty Monkey of Mim (Member # 646) on :
Yes, it's really too crowded for my taste at the theater in the evening. I prefer to go in early afternoon, as it's much nicer crowd-wise. And, as an added bonus, it's cheaper. (Shit, a movie ticket is up to $9.00 where I live [USA, California, San Francisco Bay Area] for regular admission and $5.75 for matinee! What a rip off... )
I am thoroughly excited about Nemesis and may even skip a few hours of school with friends to go see it. (Yes. I know. I'm a freak. )
Hehe...I'll probably be the first one to plaster the definitive ship info all over this board.
-MMoM Posted by Veers (Member # 661) on :
Don't know when I'll go...maybe the weekend it comes out, and, if not, for sure the next. I hope it's not disappointing like Insurrection. I went to see that the day it came out...ugh...
Posted by Proteus (Member # 212) on :
I have tickets for a 12:01AM showing on Friday. Im so hyped its not even funny.
Edit: I actually returned the tickets so I can go to a massive screen version later in the day. ITS GONNA ROCK!

I was that way with The Undiscovered Country. Well, I didn't have tickets for a minute-after-midnight showing, but I was there in line for a showing on opening day. And a week after that. And a week after that.

Classes are over. I have an exam on the 14th at 2 PM. I don't have to work until after exams. I will be seeing Nemesis the day it opens.

Mim, you live in the San Fran Bay area? I'm about a two hour drive away from you. I'm from Sacramento. Anyway, if I get the job offer on Monday, I'll probably see it next Saturday on the 14th. Otherwise, it's most likely the 13th. At the latest, Sunday the 15th.

I'm in Fremont, which is sort of in between Oakland and San Jose.
Small world, ain't it...

P.S.
Just think about it: I live within about 45 minutes of where Starfleet Headquarters and the Federation Council will be...in another 160 years.

*Works it out* About 6. It's 5.20 where i am and that's expensive for the UK. we only have one cinema in Lincoln so they can charge whatever they like. Bastards.

All you folks should come and see Nemesis in SJ. Tickets here cost $9.75 CDN for adult during regular hours, which is about $6.23 US. Lucky break for you guys, piss-poor deal for us

I'm well aware of where Fremont is. Both my brother and an ex lived there. I'm just up the road in Oakland (at Lake Merritt). Hell, maybe I've sat next to you on BART!
You know, a couple of years ago you were within striking distance of Andy Probert, as he used to be in Sunnyvale. I used to go visit him at home there.

It's possible! Although I don't ride BART very often...

Wow. That's pretty cool. How did you come to meet Mr. Probert?
-MMoM Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Coincidentally, one week is the exact amount of time it'll take some twattish American teenager to decide that 'everyone' must have seen the film by then, so there'll be no need to post spoiler warnings anymore.

Heh, we're close enough to meet for a beer (assuming we're both of legal age Well, I know I am. I'm bald enough to prove it!)!
quote:Wow. That's pretty cool. How did you come to meet Mr. Probert?
I contacted him about possibly doing some design for a 3D underwater sci-fi game back in 1995. That project got torpedoed (pun intended), but I stayed in touch with Andy and we became pals. I got to try on his Cylon helmet (hee hee). He was nice enough to pull out some of his sketchbooks so I got to see the development of the E-D right on his dining room table.

Can you ask him about that little Ferengi drop ship on the underside of the Marauder!?!

what you mean everyone doesnt have it already? i got my CD burnt a few days ago..
of youre, i will be waiting to see it on the big screen before i start watching it on the bootleg screen. i havent called out of work in a while... hm. friday it is.

What's with the huge gap between the Australian and New Zealand release?
Or the U.S. and Mexico for that matter. Maybe something to do with a more lax inforcement of copyright law. But, like, I find it hard to believe that Belgium is a nest of IP thieves. I mean, moreso than Russia? Bootleg DVDs are fifty percent of the post-Soviet economy!

Not quite...I'm just about to turn 18. Two more years to go.
Isn't it funny how everyone seems a bit ageless on the internet like this? (I mean aside from the blatantly-obvious 12 year old every now and then. ) You can't really tell how old everyone is unless you start talking about personal details. (Like in the Officer's Lounge.)
I suppose it's kind of cool that we've got a wide variety of people on this board, and everybody's thoughts are given equal weight. (Well, except for Omega's... )

Well, we did talk about it once. He said it's a swept forward wing craft, so its nose is facing the same direction as the Marauder's nose when docked. I seem to recall it was supposed to be a landable "raiding" craft for bringing booty back from planets. I don't recall if I ever asked him if he designed the top of it. I do recall that after he pointed out where the nav deflector was on the Warbird I asked him where it was on the Marauder, and he said "I forgot it!"

There is a pic of me in my Flare profile now.

That's CRAZY!! And really stupid. Half of the NZ Trek fans would probably have gone to Australia to see it before April! LOL!
And you can't compare NZ and Australia to the US and Mexico - considering that with the Mexico thing there might be something to do with language/subtitling??

The one in mine is a bit old, but you get the general idea. (I have more of a beard now though, it was just scruff back then... )

taken moments before a starship of the Enterprise-class crashed into your home. Of course, you didn't believe in the danger, since the Enterprise-class doesn't exist. But then again, just watch out for Constitution-refits, all the same.

Well I enjoyed myself during the Nemesis world premier in Hollywood. Strangely, I got 4 tickets from my favorite Hip Hop radio station. Oh, and Tom Hardy is much better looking in person with hair.

Looks like I am going to get to see Nemesis on Friday. I've already struck a deal with my boss to get out of work at 2pm. I can see a cheap show at a good theater with nary a bothersome person nearby.
The downside is that I have to go into work on Thursday and help serve the refreshments for the Christmas party we're hosting for our clients. Yay, I get to serve finger sandwiches and cheese cubes to IT managers.
Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :
As it turns out, it appears I'll be seeing Nemesis on Friday too, surprisingly. I am usually not quick with the viewing of films. I saw Solaris today. There were two other people in the theater.

I'm hoping to go see it tomorrow at 7, but the theatre only allows same-day ticket sales, so I hope there's not a big line. I'll try to get there for 6 just in case...

You don't LOOK like a Mighty Monkey of Mim.
Posted by CaptainMike (Member # 709) on :
BTW, i compared the script we have online with the novelization (which ive been flipping through at the bookstore for like two weeks).. its pretty close, with the exception that the climactic sequences were completely rewritten. (and the cameos of course changed).
btw, i took out my nemesis VCD, and peeked at the ending . its pretty intense. but im saving myself for seeing the whole film in the theatre tomorrow

What's your source for this one? An old Shane Johnson sourcebook? Or perhaps a personal interview with Gene Roddenberry?
-MMoM Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
You know, I don't think Snay's ever posted pictures of himself...
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
You know what the really bizarre thing about having to wait three weeks for Nemesis is? There is NOTHING being released this week. At all. Some stupid film starring a prepubescent rapper that will vanish without trace by Monday. My Christ, they're really determined to take no chances thatsomeone out there, somewhere in the United Kingdom, maybe hasn't heard that a Harry Potter film and a Bond film are on general release. . .
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
On that note, Nemesis here in SJ replaced Die Another Day. A little odd, I think. I would have expected a Bond film to last a bit longer.
Just checked; DAD moved to the other theatre.
Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :
Eh, I lied. Didn't make it to the theater this afternoon to watch Nemesis. The office threw a surprise birthday party for one of my coworkers, and I couldn't get away as early as I had hoped (but the cake was excellent).
I tried going to the nearest theater, and the parking lot was three-quarters full with huge lines at the ticket booths. What the hell else is showing this weekend?
By the way, I, too, would like to see pictures of Jeff "The Malneutered Snay" Benson.
Posted by Fleet-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :
I think that the Hot Chick also was on wide relase today with Nemesis. That and also Maid in Manhattan. So this weekend JLo, Rob Schnieder, and the Enterprise-E battle it out.
Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :
Ewww... I'm going to be standing in line next to people who actually want to see Jennifer Lopez and/or Rob Schneider.
