a few years ago a friend sent me a .exe that had a shocking preview for a video game that had 3d animated versions of the TOS cast.. i lost the file and everytime i asked about the game it had been delayed, and i eventually found it was cancelled..
i recently found a board where someone posted a load of shit about the game, which featured fully realized interiors of the enterprise, animated versions of the original cast, and lots of other cool schwag. loknar-class, surya-class, the bowling alley, etc.
here are some links: http://sweb.cz/trga/fury/furys.htm http://sweb.cz/trga/fury/furys2.htm http://sweb.cz/trga/fury/furys3.htm http://murraystudios.com/storyb/trek/trksb.htm http://lasooner.thoughtshop.net/3d/vfury/
pretty amazing stuff...

In-CREDIBLE!
The success or failure of a Trek game always hinges on the quality of its starship combat simulator, of course...
...But I'd have bought this one just for the pretty pictures!

That was GREAT preview - I still like watching it.
It can be found on one of the disks of Starfleet Academy if you want to see it.
DeForrest Kelly did voice work for that - they all did, didn't they? They should finish the damn game!!

Yup. I remember browsing through a bunch of previews in mid '97, all of which praised the game to high heaven (the way previews tend to do). I kept an eye on Fury's development out of morbid curiousity, as Trek games have traditionally had a reputation for sucking from here to the next dimension, and later (early 2000? I think) got wind of its cancellation. Unfortunate, because SoVF looked very promising, and managed to eliminate at least some of my preconceptions, but a license alone does not a great game make... The simple fact that DC Fontana was involved in the creation of the story for the game sounds incredible. The artwork looks amazing. Damn, it's a shame this one went down the tubes.
Is there any place where I can find a copy of the preview movie?

Kelley was too ill to do recording work, actually.

If they put this out as a movie of DVD/VHS, I'd buy it.

Really? Cause I'd put 25th anniversary and judgement rites very near the top of any Trek game list, and both of them had starship combat that was, at the least, a bit simplistic.
And Elite Force had no starship combat at all...

Although I'm curious as to why this picture shows the nacelles with the vents. It'd pretty much by the first (and only) time that the ship has been shown like that in recent history.

It also has Franz Joseph's impulse deck, and in the trailer fires photon torpedoes from the Deck 2-3 superstructure...

As I mentioned - you can find it on the Starfleet Academy Game...
or you could look for it on Kazaa.
It's a biggish file - but if someone had space... I could put it up?? It'd take a while.
It's worth it though. The music and everything - very cool. I love the shot of the Enterprise speeding away from that explosion - it was the first time I felt the TOS Enterprise looked... realistic!?!

What about Trials & Tribble-ations?
Are there any other quirks with this Enterprise model? Does it have the black arcs on the top of the saucer, like the WNMHGB model? Or is it the "offical blueprints" model?

What about it? I'm not understanding what you're asking.

If you mean the "Vulcan Fury" model, you can see the top of the saucer on http://sweb.cz/trga/fury/furys3.htm and there are no "arcs" there.

I think he was questioning whether or not Andrew thought the E-nil looked "realistic" in TaT.

The TaT Enterprise came after I saw the tSoVF clip... I think.
Plus you see it zipping out just before an explosion like the E-D in Generations.
