Ah, yes. One book I definately won't be buying. Unless I see it for sale for like $5 somewhere...

Is this just supposed to be a text episode and trivia guide or is there going to be various illustrations? It's definitely not the lost lamented Tech Manual....

For the love of Christ, given the existing TNG and DS9 Companions, might you even attempt to infer what it'll contain?

I'm going to leaf through it at a bookstore before I buy it, but if it's anything like the DS9 Companion -- with writer opinions and reflections -- then I'd definitely be interested.
Of course, with so many Braga episodes, he probably thinks that there's still nothing wrong with the deuterium incidents...

Actually, no. I've only seen the DS9 companion once around where I live and it didint look that great. Did either previous companion have concept art or design material not shown in the series or the magazine? Do they review each episode or just points of intrest?

Just a little something about that pic. Is that the correct Scale for Voyager??
Also - I've noticed in Mojo's pic with the Klingon BoP under it and now this one. There appears to be the 20th century traffic lights and not those travel tubes that cross it as seen in other matte paintings. Like in TMP.

"Is that the correct Scale for Voyager??" Assuming the ship is the correct distance away from the bridge, sure.

Looks about right. Voyager is freakin' huge at 345 meters long! Longer than Kirk's Enterprise with much much more interior volume. Too bad we only saw a very small portion of the pretty large ship (smallish by 24th century standards I guess, but still really big by human comparison). Same thing goes with DS9: we never saw 90% of it due to budget constraints.

Bastards! They totally gave away the ending! 8)
On a more serious note, I am shocked at their irresponsibility in releasing such a book. Haven't they considered the deaths this will cause? All those Trekkies, roused to insensate rage at the self-congratulatory tone and the writers' insistence on viewing Voyager as quality drama, hurling their copies out the window. . . There are bound to be some fatalities among passers-by. I urge you all to boycott this book in the interests of public safety!

The DS9 Companion is a very nice book. It's not as ass-kissing as the usual Magazine interview. Instead, it is quite honest about episodes that went horribly wrong. And it's fun to read.
The TNG Companion is a lot more similar to Trimble's Concordance. Full of trivia, but not as insightful as the DS9 Comp.
I hope the VOY Companion is as honest as the DS9 Companion. I wouldn't bet on it, though.

I remember arguing with Margaret Clark about the suitability of the cover of the DS9 Companion over at the Simon and Schuster/Pocketbooks web page. LOL! This was before it came out and a prelim cover had been posted. I complained that the show just wasn't about Sisko - but was probably the Trek that dealt more and relished in it's extended cast.
Oh and that they were going to use that frigging over-used promo picture of Deep Space Nine that had been floating around since 1992.
I have it on like a million bits of DS9 merchandise.
The cover worked out OK, I guess.

Yes, especially since this particular scene in Endgame would turn out to never actually happen...
I went out & bought the DS9 Companion when it first came out, because I love DS9. I will probably leaf through this book in the store, then possibly buy it when it goes to the $5.00 bargain bin in a few months.

I'm not saying I expect them to say that "Voyager" was crap... In fact, I did enjoy most episodes, even if I had some disappointments regarding the handling of the series as a whole.
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. One of the things I appreciated most about the DS9 Companion was that the writers openly pointed out where they think they screwed up. All those classic howlers, like "Let He Who Is Without Sin" or "Profit and Lace"? They weren't fond of the end result, either. It provided for a much more interesting insight into their work.

I swear, American's didn't "get" Profit and Lace - it was a CLASSIC! Very funny stuff.
Meridan was a shocker and so was "The Muse". Used to hate "Move Along Home" but it's not as bad as I used to think.

I would'nt say "boring" is as accurate as borrowed! The exact same scene is used at one of the endings for the playstation game Star Trek: Invasion.

Damn them for stealing that design from a computer game! It'd be one thing if it was based from a scene in an episode, but a computer game? That's crazy!
