Personally, I take most of that excellent book as semi-canon. The only problem is the book's subtitle: "A collection of stories, fables, folk songs, philosophical meditations and <i>outright lies</i> based on the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition. Maybe that's just Behr and Wolfe's way of getting out of making the book canon outright, or maybe they're just being funny... either way, the book needs a massive grain of salt.
