I'm surprised no one has posted this yet but I see Jimmy finally got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Apparently George was also there at the ceremony in support.
Oddly it was important enough to make my local news Local the link.
I'm glad he got it, unfortunately a bit late for him to really grasp it, I'm sure. Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
I think he's only in early stages of Alzheimer's disease - so I'm very sure he could and would appreciate it.
So do all the Original Cast have stars now?
Congrats Jimmy.

Wow. His warranty expired bigtime.
Leonard Nimoy was there for the con honoring Dohan as well.
Sucks that we'll lose yet another TOS cast member though: that convention must have been bittersweet. Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Didn't know he suffered from those other diseases too. That's sad to hear.

We've always got Welchy.
Posted by F.G. (Member # 968) on :
That was rather tasteless.

It's also pretty old.

I recall laughing at the farside once upon a time. I sure dont know why anymore though...

Yeah, I saw the lovely event... it was nice to see him and some of the cast members like George, Nichelle, and Grace out there for the event.

Shatner could'nt be bothered I guess....
Posted by F.G. (Member # 968) on :
Did anyone stop and think that maybe Shatner wanted to be there but the toupee didnt? I didnt think so...
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Would his hands look like that from the diabetes?
That little girl he's holding must be his little girl from a few years ago.
So no Leonard or Shatner or Majel? Great to see Nichelle, Grace, Walter and George there.

Nimoy was at the Con honoring Doohan but I guess not at the actual ceremony itself.

You're on first name terms with most of them, but you spit the surname of their noble captain as if it were poisoning your very soul?
To be fair to Shatner, he stopped being a complete arsehole almost a decade ago now. And there could be many, many reasons why him (and Nimoy, and Barret) couldn't turn up.

Are Doohan and Shatner speaking to each other again?
Posted by F.G. (Member # 968) on :
Doohan is a few fries short of a Happy Meal at his stage in life...thats why he didnt speak at the dedication much less to Captain Priceline.
Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :
Shatner apparently spent a good deal of time trying to talk to Doohan while filming Generations. Don't know what's happened since then.
Posted by Fleet-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :
Well the Convention showed the remaining TOS actors together and Doohan and Shatner were somewhat appart n the photo. Everyone else was arround Doohan though.

LOL - no. Just used to saying 'Shatner' rather than 'William' or 'Bill'.

Where is this photo, does it have ALL of them including Grace-Lee Whitney and Majel Barrett-Roddenberry?
Posted by Fleet-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :
Yes it does... I found some at startrek.com.

Is that Doohan at the podium? He looks horrible.
Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :
Oh, there's Doohan sitting.

"Who is the guy in the red vest clapping - behind Jimmy Doohan?"
I wouldn't bet my money on it, but I think that's Bernard Hill (King Theoden in The Two Towers).
Or he could be none other than Random Audience Member #4. Faces always befuddle me.

My god they look old. I haven't seen pics of the original crew in a while.
Shatner: 73 Nimoy: 73 Kelly: (Would be) 84 Doohan: 84 Koenig: 68 (Oddly, no photo for him on imdb.com) Nichols: 70 Takei: 64 Whitney: 74
They're lucky though, when they die, like Kelly, their memory will last as long as we know Star Trek.
Posted by Dat (Member # 302) on :
I didn't know Koenig was older than Takei.
Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :
I was surprised at that too. He looked younger than him in TOS, and he looks younger than him now (which, I suppose, makes sense). Must be that 5 miles he runs every other day.

Takei went jogging in YAKIMA, when he was IN TOWN. Or at least that's what he told us, an audience of ample-stomached and pale outcasts, desperate for some sort of communal feeling and yet horrified by where we found ourselves.
