While we all know that the First Contact SCE DVD, is supposed to be out a week from this next Tuesday, has anyone seen what the menu screens are gonna look like?

Sh'Zaam!

Actually, you lost me at: "Although there are no deleted scenes..."

Posted by Johnny (Member # 878) on :

The scene deconstruction for the escape pod launch sounds promising. Hopefully there'll be some info on the FC ships, maybe even a few concept sketches we haven't seen.

Posted by Dat (Member # 302) on :

Don't be too surprised that there will most likely be no new info or even mention of the "new" ships or even the design concepts.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

I don't know... the Art section and the whole thing about the battle scene might have some interesting stuff. "From A to E" sounds like a look at all the Enterprises.

It will be out here in exactly one month. I hope there will be some info on the RC2 edition of this SE sometime beforehand.
Then again, if not even the RC1 version is supposed to have deleted scenes - or dedicated info on the new ships, then why shpuld there be on the RC2? Pity.

It's tough to imagine how they could have made the box uglier than that cheesy silver border.

Insurrection announced for summer.

Already announced in another thread.

While I luv these special editions they are doing about the movies, I only have one complaint, the DVD cases are butt ugly in that starship grey. I don't know if its the paper that they are printed on or the glare of the of the plastic cover or even the fact that in some cases, to me, the poster cover clashes with the grey, I dunno. I still think they are butt fugly.

:{)

You "luv" them? What are you, a "grrl"? Are you sure you don't <3 them?

Posted by The Mighty Monkey of Mim (Member # 646) on :

Yeah, so, uh, anyway...MENU SCREENS!

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

"Borg Invasion Trailer"?
Is that what Lobo worked on for the Vegas Experience?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

The menu screens for the new Aliens editions have ruined all other attempts at interactive menus for me. The FC stuff shown on that link looks awful compared to the cool, scary-feeling stuff that could have done.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

I appreciate a nice-looking menu, but many "interactive" menus (as opposed to what, the kind that don't actually let you select the options they present?) seem to just be exercises in noise.

(See: Flash: a pox or just a nightmare?)

I just bought it and it seems there are added stuff to the battle sequence like a floating Steamrunner to the right of the E-E after Picard takes over a fleet and stuff on the Borg Cube.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Screengrabs, you evil, teasing fiend!

Posted by Vice-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :

A new addition?

So what did happen to the helm that allowed Deanna to drive the Enterprise-D?

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

That destroyed Steamrunner is in the regular DVD.

Posted by The Mighty Monkey of Mim (Member # 646) on :

That wasn't always there?

Posted by Vice-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :

Boy, these drugs for depression really do a number on me. I thought I just saw Jeri Ryan in my office... not a good sign if you are hallucinating about Star Trek.

OR BOSTON LEGAL

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Or "Dark Skies". She wasn't speaking Russian, was she?

Posted by Vice-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :

No, she was in a low cut purple gown and spoke quite eloquently about how she still gets odd items from her fans.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Perhaps E! are marketing their own brand of Ecstasy?

Posted by Mars Needs Women (Member # 1505) on :

Anyone see the E in the menuscreen, the area around the deflector dish seems a little mishapened.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Well, goody. That gives us something to complain about for a couple of years until they bring out the Special Special Edition to rectify this grievous error.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Boston Public. I never had a teacher like that.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

I CONFUSED MY DAVID KELLEY BOSTON TV SHOWS WITH ACTORS FROM STAR TREK IN THEM.

(Perhaps a statement that didn't require shouting, but oh man, what a boner.)

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Everyone duck.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

I'm determined to give any son I have the middle name DeForest. I just kinda like it, and it does go with my surname. Kate may have other ideas, however.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Which Star Trek actor was in Boston Legal? Did she have ginormous bosoms?

Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Well, Rene Auberjonois and William Shater, but I don't think either of them has/have/STUPID LANGUAGE WHICH IS IT HELP ME TIM breasts. Yet.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

'twould be "have", I believe. They have. He has. Neither of them have.

Posted by The Mighty Monkey of Mim (Member # 646) on :

I don't know, have you seen Shatner lately?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

I think he's kind of blubberfying.

I just watched an old tape of his first appearance as The Big Giant Head on Third Rock from the Sun. He was actually pretty good.

Posted by B.J. (Member # 858) on :

"The same thing happened to ME!!!" [Big Grin]
Loved that scene!

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Yah, that was great [Smile]

"Is that how you address your supreme leader!? Straighten up!"

Posted by Omega (Member # 91) on :

"You two will... bathe me."

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

"Has", actually. "Either" being singular.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

I think we should all call on Tim Breasts when we need help. It couldn't hurt.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

What, no suggestion that it could, in fact, hurt, because they're so large you'll be crushed by them?

You're slipping, sir.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Slipping on the lard dripping out of your fat mouth that you eat because you are fat but you are so fat that you try and put more in than will fit and once and so your dribble lard everywhere. You fat bastard.

Hook, line and win!

The Braga/Moore commentary track on this DVD is interesting, btw.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

So have they made up then?

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

I'm not entirely sure their supposed. . . I refuse to call it a break-up. This is silly.

Anyway, by all accounts yes, some time ago. They've got one on the Generations disc too, which I haven't heard, but which I recall one of our esteemed colleagues describing as remarkably insightful and self-critical.

They seem united in their dislike of "Assimilate this!"

I also thought that, after not having seen the film for awhile, some of the humor seemed a little forced. And it sure jumps into things quickly. Hey, the Borg are attacking. Hey, we destroyed them. Time travel!

Anyway, their commentary track is well worth a listen. They get into a fairly nuanced discussion of the future of the franchise, and what makes a Star Trek story a Star Trek story, and at one point Crisis on Infinite Earths gets brought up, though they cannot remember its name. I haven't listened to Frakes' yet.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

I also haven't seen it in a while, so please remind me when "assimilate this" was? I thought the Arnie line was Data's "Resistance...is futile!".

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

When Worf blows up the part of the deflector that all those Borg are standing on. I'm pretty sure there's a T-shirt.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Oh yeah. Urgh.

Hang on, if the writers both hated it who put the line in? God?

Posted by Vice-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :

Moore and Braga tried to blame Michael Dorn for that line actually but they couldn't be sure. I heard both of their audio commentaries in Generations and First Contact. It sounds like whatever happened between the two of them is either water under the bridge or a very well organized truce.

I've also watchted the text commentaries by the Okudas in both films and it was rather interesting about all the stuff they knew about the productions like how the Observation Lounge on the E-E is the same setup as the E-D but directly connected to the bridge.

As for the Generations audio comments, they kept making fun of Troi's driving, talked about how the audience acted with the original ending, and of course how Spiner hated cats in real life.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Original ending?
One that involves Kirk's head crushed like a rotten grapefruit, I hope.
Mabye one where collectors in the future dig up Kirk and sell his body parts on Ebay for latinum...

How can they blame Michael Dorn for the "Assimilate This!" line?
It's not as though he produced/wrote/directed/edited the movie.

Next thing you know they'll be blaming the fans for Enterprise's cancellealtion. [Wink]

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Specifically, they couldn't recall (or were perhaps just unwilling to say) who had written that line, or whether it might have been improvised. They aren't really blaming anybody. I mean, it is all in a jokey light atmosphere of gentle introspection.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Gentile instrospection?

Tell me about the original ending!

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Yes, gtenlie spcenistornoit.

At one point in the Generations development process, Kirk died after Soren shot him in the back.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Actually, they filmed it. Soran shoots Kirk, then drops the phaser and stands there staring google-eyed at the Nexus, wheeupon Picard sneaks up, grabs the phaser and shoots him. All in all, a bit crap.
