I watched TNG:Violations the other day, the one with the Ullians and the telepathic memory invasion rape... When Deanna was in a coma and Riker was talking to her, Crusher told him to go get some sleep and said, "That's an order." Can the CMO just order even superior officers around if it's remotely health-related? Or was she just being cute?

A Little of both I think. I would think they need a functioning first officer and not one strung out worrying about one particular crewmember. Or that there was nothing he could do for her so it'd be more constructive if he got some sleep - so yeah being cute too.

Cute as in "we're friends so take my advice" but an order as in "Or otherwise I will relieve you of command".
