We had some previously, but I cna't find the thread. Anyway, there's lots more of them now. Looks great - check out cetacean ops!

Fucking amazing- looks like the "integrated tech lab" sports a Borg and a Bajoran Ark.

I believe that's under "Int. Tech Security". But did you notice the 20th century phone, coffee can, and desktop calculator in the Archeology Lab? (lower right of pic)

Dolphins! Also, descendant of Phlox's imaging chamber in the Medical Lab.

In the Archaeology lab...the 3-fingered hand thing. A Martian from 1953's War of The Worlds?

Why does the isolation ward have multiple beds in it?

'Cuz it gets lonely in isolation, silly.

Anyone notice those spiffy engineering chairs? Should look pretty cool. It's interesting to note that Probert is exercising a lot of license in his interpretation of what his original ship should have looked like; this is acceptable, as we'll essentially be seeing what the inside of a Galaxy could look like in the twelve-plus years since we've seen the inside of a "current" example.

Is there any record of the Galaxy Class ever using bio-neural gelpacks? If so, it seems a bit odd to have sickbay right next to a computer core.

Why, where else would you put it?

Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :

In the nacelles, obviously.

Well, I seem to remember from an episode of Voyager, don't recall which one, that they bio-neural gelpacks had problems with bacteria/virii. This might have been resolved, I honestly can't remember, and if it was, my question is pointless. Otherwise, like I said, seems an odd place for it.

They may have upgraded to them at some point (if they were indeed an upgrade) but Voyager did at the very least imply that they were a new development.

The bioneural gelpacks were everywhere on Voyager, including the engineering and the replicators in the mess hall. They were also partially replaced with standard isolinear circuitry after several faults early on in the show, but remained overall in standard use through to the end. No mention has been made of upgrading any othr ship in the show with bioneural circuitry (which was a plot contrivance in the first place), but if they were really so great, then it wouldn't surprise me if other ships got upgraded or newbuilt with gelpacks for faster response time and better hairstyling.

The turbolifts are so slow you need a fifty-seat lobby for the passengers? [Smile]

I forget, is this supposed to represent the Galaxy at some specific point of the Trek timeline, or is it just a "what if" for the generic TNG era?

It's a what-if, though presumably it'll be at some point after Nemesis. Remember those funky uniform designs that've been kicking around for quite some time now...

And the turbolift lobby would be necessary, especially givent that you can't squeeze more than 6-8 people into one of those. [Razz] Anyway, Probert originally envisioned social areas like this on "his" Enterprise-D (and were in fact incorporated on the Ed Whitefire blueprints), and in a MMORPG setting you'd obviously need plenty of real estate for character interaction... Still, this screenshot implies that the familiar E-D palette will be used regardless.

There's plenty of room to open a Starbuck's so you can get your fix on the way to your battlestation.

I believe it has a specific (or roughly specific) starting date.

Or I guess not so specific:
quote:
Which time period or series does this game occur in?

The game's starting point is set some time following the latest movie (i.e. Star Trek Nemesis). However, there will be missions with storylines and characters from other parts of the Star Trek franchise.

I was at Andy's house a while back and what you're missing in context with the "lobby" is that it's the lobby for everything you see on the paghe...sickbay, science labs, etc.

In one of his (perhaps earlier) drawings I think someone in the archaeology lab was carrying a Cylon helmet.

When the [/i]Enterprise[/i] computer stops saying "working" and starts saying "by your command", I will worry...

Was astrometrics heavily based on what we saw in Generations or was that what Probert invisioned from the beginning??

I love the Dolphins.

ALSO - when they first started this site - they had a big 'mystery' section or picture - but I never went back - does anyone know what it was?

The screenshots might just be of corridors, but they're the prettiest corridors ever.

Yay! Still featureless and easy to get lost in!

And a quick check of Wikipedia shows that this game will be set in the early 25th century, presumably after the future-future segments of "All Good Things..." and "Endgame". Apparently, the game context has settled down to be a more TNG-style peaceful time without all the constant fighting that characterized the late DS9 and VOY periods. Borg, Romulans and Klingons are all at peace or otherwise not fighting with the Feds... For now...

We have any new developments on this? As part of my healing process, my energy level is back to where it was in high school and I've been feeling productive. This is dangerous. I just started a full-on root canal of my two main computers last weekend, and so don't have all my bookmarks to check up on this stuff, and rather than Google it, I thought I'd ask the Brain Trust here.
