I've just downloaded some of the promo trailers of the net for 'Enterprise' - I'd like to see these showing on Australian TV As if it'd happen.Anyway, I curious as to what the scoring for the new series will be like. Berman has always like the music kept to a minimum. Hardly ever was percussion used - even in Deep Space Nine. The episode I'm up to at the moment (In Australia) is Flesh and Blood Part 1. I noticed that there was some GREAT music in that episode with *gasp* percussion!?! I'm wondering if this trend will continue for the New series - and that the scores of old will be replaced with some more adventurous music that I have heard on the promos. It sounds like the trad. TNG/DS9/Voy orchestra sound - but a lot more... "full on"!?! If that makes sense. Does anyone have any details? If they got rid of some people?? (Well just Sternbach it seems) maybe they'll replace their composers? What is a bet, though, that Jerry Goldsmith will score the opening credits!?!

From what I've heard, Jerry Goldsmith is scoring the theme to a television series, but it isn't Enterprise. I'm not sure who the staff composer is at the moment; I'm not even sure if there's been a story on it yet at any of the Trek news sites. What I do know is that the music for Enterprise is supposed to be a bit different from the other modern series. I think the use of guitars or electric guitars was bounced around, but I can't find the article in question. So the percussion family of instruments should be used a bit more.

The latest on the news front here is thatMain theme composer not locked in yetDennis McCarthy is doing the score for "Broken Bow"The score/theme will be "hipper" but they won't go modern to the point of having electric guitars

Good! No electric guitars. Even though I loved Christopher Franke's work on B5 - I cringed a few times there, when I heard an electric guitar!Andrew

There's an electric guitar in the post-season 4 DS9 title music. It's not the composers fault anyway, as is easily apparent from Chatterway's score for "Tin Man" (which was his first piece for the show, I believe), and McCarthy's score for "Call To Arms" (which falls under that "We can have good music for the season finales rule")

PsyLiam... that guitar wasn't in the post-season 3 - season 4 onwards credits. It was from the remix/extended version of the DS9 theme from the Soundtrack to "Emissary". It had a drum beat - but was NOT the version that was heard in season 4 onwards.
