Is this a preview of Discovery's opening theme? It's more likely than you think.
The "Dorking Out Show" Facebook page posted this and confirmed that the composer, Charles-Henri Avelange, posted a link on Twitter mentioning that he had participated in a "bake-off" by CBS to help choose music for DSC. Whike it's entirely possible he's just trying to promote himself for more movie & video game work like he's done in the past, both Dorking Out & I believe that given the timing of the post, it certainly implies he won the prize & the abive is a glimpse into the sonic geography of the show.

Sounds similar to the Star Trek: Voyager theme.

Sounds like a bad CGI sub captained by the guy who beat Jaws and flies helicopters upside down is about to put to sea.
It sounds precisely not like, yet is incredibly reminiscent of, the rejected TNG theme from the old soundtrack. It is empty and busy and completely non-unique.

This track is too derivative of TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT soundtracks. I'm tired of the elevator music of that era. How about some music with personality. I liked the track that played in the Discovery teaser. It transitioned nicely from mysterious to ominous to hopeful. I'd like more of that please.

Well the orchestral scores of DS9/Voy, however clinical and identity-free, were better than the saccarine Christian Country-Rock of ENT.
The above theme goes back to the orchestral period from TMP to Voyager, and definitely has a naval/military strain in the last third, marked by the snare drum. Reminded me of "Space: Above and Beyond". Hopefully it will be more gritty and serious than "Star Trek Beyond".
