The line is roughly 1:10 scale (7"), with a price point hopefully not higher than 29.99 USD. The line is intended "to fill the gaps" from other Trek lines (in other words, they're unlikely to do the "poster crew" most Trek lines start with, so if they do eventually do a Data, he won't be in his standard Starfleet uniform).

The first wave was announced just now at Toyfair and consists of eight figures. They'll be at most major retailers, at mom & pop comic and toy stores, and available for presale directly from Nacelle, and from other e-tailers like BBTS.

Future waves will hopefully be ten figures. The company -- run by the guy who brought us The Toys That Made Us and The Center Seat, and who named his company for a distinct part of a Starfleet's ship design -- is soliciting ideas for characters at [email protected].

The company has the rights to produce figures from TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and Enterprise, as well as all of the films up to Nemesis. So they will not be producing figures from Lower Decks, Discovery, Prodigy, Kelvin-films, etc.

Anyway, Wave 1 will be:

Captain Jellico (TNG)
Cadet Preston (TWOK)
Valkyris (TSFS)
Capt. Garrett (TNG)
Tuvix (VOY)
Weyoun (DS9)
Capt. Sulu (TUC)
Mirror Archer in Defiant Uniform (ENT)

There's a live stream here. It's shot from an audience member. There may be an official stream from Nacelle later.

For what it's worth -- I sort of love this approach, and I think if the line does well, they will give us the core characters in standard uniforms.

Such odd choices

Yes, but they're specifically looking to produce characters either never produced as an action figure, or ones that have been, but in costumes they've never been done in.

I mean, how many Captain Picards in a standard duty uniform does one need? I mean, looking at my collection, I've got Galoob, I've got Playmates "Darmok" jacket (and both "Tapestry" Picards, and a Locutus), I've got some oversized Playmates version (with a talking feature, I think), and I'll have Exo-6's before the end of the year.

OH. And I've also got the terrible Picard they did in their aborted relaunch of a Star Trek line two years ago. Waste of $$.

I've also got Super7's Reaction Picard, and S7R Picard from Elementary Dear Data. I could also add either from Diamond Select/Art Asylum (they did at least two), plus Super7's Ultimates Picard.

I guess what I'm saying is ... yes! Make odd choices! Give us good sculpts, compelling characters, good paint jobs ...

But Tuvix tho?

I can dig Jellico, Garrett, & Sulu however. Woukdn't mind a Sito.

I mean ... I'm not much of a Voyager fan (Janeway's a murderer!), so if I do pick him up, it'll only be to support the line.

BWV said he wants to do at least 100 figures, so I think Sito's a real possibility. I've been advocating for the Klingon Chef, and Cadet or Officer (or both) Nog.

I'm not a figure person, but appreciate this. They could've saved money on Tuvix by just reselling Tuvok and Neelix and calling it "murdered Tuvix", for all who go with that.

I do find it fascinating that they have a license for Original Universe but not any of the Prime/Discoverse stuff. I've never bought into that "alternate license" stuff, but I'd love to hear more regarding how this came about.

During the panel, they mentioned that other companies have the license to produce figures from those series.

Hiya Toys has been producing two Star Trek lines, both featuring figures from the 2009 Star Trek film: a 1/18th scale, and a 1/12th scale. The 1/18th line has just started hitting the U.S., and the 1/12th might start hitting before the end of the year. It's possibly Hiya also has the license for the more recent TV series.

Exo-6 has two lines of figures. They have their amazing 1/6th scale line (Kruge is on his way to my display cabinet) and have produced characters from the TOS films and series, TNG, TNG films, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, SNW, and Enterprise, as well as Burnham and Saru from Discovery, and have also shown prototypes of SNW versions of Boimler and Mariner.

Exo-6 is also doing "poseable statues" for Lower Decks. Wave 1, Boimley, Becket, and Good and Evil Badgeys, coming very soon.

I would buy all of these, but how dare you mention Pran without also mentioning Captain Boday.

I don’t know if there were any toy lines off the back of Escape To/From/Around/Whatever Witch Mountain. But if not, here’s to Ike Eisenmann, suddenly the beneficiary of an action figure in his mid-sixties…
