1). Right. Continuity is screwed one more time. 2). How can something that's *fairly* new (the technology absolutely can NOT be more than 10-40 years young/old), already be proven? 3). This means lots of episodes based around some transporter glitch or another. Been there, done that.
Oh, right, I'm supposed to "give it a chance".

But to make it more plausible for the purists, the basic psychological idea of transporter may to some cause discomfort even way into McCoy's day etc. For me, even if transporter technology was real and had been around safely for 100 years, I would hate the idea of stepping into one and have my molecules 'scrambled'. I'd take a shuttle every time. I think watching that horrific Sonak transporter accident in TMP made me feel like that. Oh yeh, and watching 'The Fly'.

The trailer for Enterprise that was shown at the "upfront" presentation to the industry types a month or so ago is now available for download. We've known the content of the video for weeks now, but now have images to put to statements.

Sorry for my bad english I came from Austria. I think it would be exiting to see the Transporter System in the beginning. I love ( ) the Transporter-System, and I mean it is safer the travelling by a shuttle.

Transporters are great on a TV show and all, but personally I think in real life it would turn out quite different. In REAL life, I believe the concept of being taken apart molecule by molecule, then being reassembled, would be more along the lines of killing you then building a new version. Sure the You that steps off the pad in another location retains the memories and knowledge of you, but it wouldnt truely BE you.. You would have ceased to exist when your body was taken apart.

Only that they had to be around by 2209 because transporter psychosis was diagnosis then.
Common sense tells us that they wouldn't have let the transporter be used unless they tested it. It is my opinion that the testing of the original transporter resulted in the first discovery of and the diagnosis of transporter psychosis.

Just because they tested it, doesn't mean they found out everything wrong with it.
Look at airplanes now. Whatsit called...Deep Vain Thrombosis, or something. Which some aeroplane companies are still refusing to believe exists.
Whether you believe it exists or not, a similar thing could have happened with the transporters. Maybe they just dismissed certain "side effects", and Transporter Psychosis wasn't completely diagnosed until 2209.
Hell, maybe we'll see some signs of it in Enterprise.

TP was implied to be pretty rare. . . maybe the use of transporters had to become fairly widespread before anyone developed the condition. And, besides, if the syndrome had appeared as soon as they started using them, they would probably have said "TP has existed since transporters were invented."
AND let's not forget one thing no-one's mentioned: who says Earth invented the transporter anyway? Membership of the Federation is available as soon as a culture develops warp travel; after that, surely the technological benefits developed by other member worlds are freely available. Perhaps such a feature reflects humanity's own emergence into the galactic culture.
