Knowing Paramount, they'll keep Enterprise on air for the full seven seasons.

I am so glad things depend on E! and its online department, because that is the best channel ever, and without a doubt the one thing that matters the most in the world, and could we have a United Nations without Wild On? I HOPE TO GOD NOT!!

This is a terrible thread.

Yes "Kristin" must have some major sway with the networks for her to be able to save any of those shows.
Particularly Angel, as it's cast are undoubtedly planning to move on with their careers after they were told that the shows already been cancelled!!!

This is indeed a terrible thread.

...and I notice that "Ed", which is on the survey, has not only been cancelled, but had a big "event" final episode a couple of weeks ago. Oy.

Hey ... Jason, where's that Nova?

There is no hope for saving Angel!?!?! [Frown]

Of course it will. And, if you're interested, I own this really great bridge in New York City that I'm looking to sell at a very reasonable price...

You spelled 'weather' wrong ... well, you spelled it right, you just used the wrong 'weather'. You used the 'weather' you'd use for 'Gosh, it's really sunny today, yet Tuesday it's supposed to snow, OMG WTF.'

If that's in response to the word pray... I'd not that it's in the use of "pray tell" not "pray to God"

IE... I'm begging.

Going by that beard of his, I'd say depressed. B)

Again - tho' last night - another fricken repeat.. is it just me - or do the EXECs that have such itchy trigger fingers on our tv shows - play as many repeats as regular shows during a regular season?!?

I dunno - it just feels like that.. we get two new shows... then a repeat.. two more new shows.. then.. repeats... then another new show.. another repeat.. it's driving me nuts.

Posted by TheWoozle (Member # 929) on :

I was kinda insulted by what they moved to the 8-9 hour.

Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :

Twenty-Three episodes / season.
Fifty-Two weeks / year.
Twenty-Nine weeks / no new episodes.

Would you rather:
solid block of nothing new, less than a half a year to "watch your shows?"
or
interspersed with repeats so as to make the running year longer?

So that you have more to live for.

Posted by J (Member # 608) on :

Well... at least I can set the VCR to record ENT and Smallive with 1 of my 8 presets instead of 2 now.

Posted by Dat (Member # 302) on :

um, some clarification, Enterprise is doing reruns now after already showing new episodes for a month or two. Only during the reruns will it air at 9pm. When the next new episode airs, the show will return to the 8pm slot.

Posted by Alshrim Dax (Member # 258) on :

my point is - i think that during a regular season - there shouldn't be any repeats!!! DO a full season - no repeats and syndicate them on the off season!

Don't see shows like "24" showing a repeat half way thru a season...

that's what's driving me nuts... I'm just venting..

Posted by TheWoozle (Member # 929) on :

I dunno, I kinda like watching one rerun of a new episode. Also, bear in mind that the are still filming the last of the new episodes when the first ones are aired. To show all the new ones at once, they would have to put-off showing the new ones by a month or two. We would still be seeing the finale in April, but wouldn't have seen THE EXPANSE until December(or so).

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

24 showed reruns during the first season, but they haven't since then. They just take the show off the air for a few weeks then come back with a new episode.

Showing reruns must not have worked for 24 (which doesn't surprise me). It's not totally the same with other shows, but as connected as the eps of Enterprise have been of late, reruns could sort of spoil the flow.

Which is pretty much what they do with US imports over here now. Originally, we didn't get them until months after the US had shown them. Now they time it so that the season ends over here at roughly the same point it does in the US. So they don't start the season until, er, December (or so).

So they should start filming earlier so that they are done before they ever get to having to put up reruns in a season. And if the unions whine... screw that, they still get the same amount of time as a break it's just rescheduled.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

And, of course, if they did show the whole season all at once, the same people would complain about having to wait a full six months between two parts of a cliffhanger.

Yes, SCREW the unions.
I really want to have more episodes like Shades of Grey. [Wink]

TSN... does it matter? 6 months of new and 6 of reruns, or 8 months of new with 2 months of reruns intersparsed and then 4 months of nothing but reruns. The only way around that is to have a year round filming schedule, capable of producing episodes to fill upwards to 45 weeks in a year. I'd rather have all the new episodes and all the reruns lumped together instead of breaking up the new episodes with reruns. I don't have to look for the episodes summary to see if it's worth watching [because it's new] or worth forgetting about [because it's a rerun]-- I just watch until the end of the season and then wait until yahoo says "season premier" in the fall.

Oh, no, you just haven't lived through such a situation. Believe me, it's far better to have a few weeks of repeats in between new episodes than having the repeats after the new episodes and being bored because there isn't anything worth watching on TV. Currently, on cable here they are just showing reruns of the first half of S2 of ENT, after having shown them first - the second half will have to wait until the reruns are over. Fortunately, I have the current (S3) episodes to watch. And on local TV, what they usually did with a multi-season show was show the whole first season, repeat it, show the whole second season, repeat the first, then the second, show the third, repeat the first, second and third, show the fourth, etc., which was even more exasperating. And you're complaining because there are a few weeks of reruns?

Of course, ideally (for me, at least), they should start with half a season of new episodes from S1, then alternatively show a new episode and a repeat from then on. And of course, once the series is over, there's still half a season of repeats.

I get stranded on a remote Scottish island, and don't have net access for a week, and finally get online, then come here and the top thread on the list is this one. "Oh," I think, "fucking typical, they cancel the show and I miss the fireworks. . ."

Subject: Overheard at the wrap party: Enterprise won't be back!

Production on Enterprise season 3 wrapped up yesterday. At the party
afterwards, one MAJOR cast member was overheard saying he did NOT expect to
be back for a 4th season. The overall mood at the party was gloomy and low-
key. The cast and crew was understandably tired, but there was also a
palpable sense of frustration at the lack of a decision regarding
Enterprise's future and the lack of any encouragement from the network. It
seems many of the people behind the scenes feel that the franchise is about
to shut down and that yesterday was Star Trek's final day in production.

By the poster's name, I wonder if that's the same usual "reliable source" TGL has quoted sometimes... So far, I haven't heard anything on the subject anywhere else.

I won't believe anything until the official website says anything.

On UPN, ENTERPRISE is still getting better ratings then some shows you know they gonna keep.

Posted by StarCruiser (Member # 979) on :

They'll keep the other junk because those are MUCH cheaper and easier to make money on... That's what may kill Enterprise - cost relative to profit. Sorry - but it's true.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Nothing like a well placed rumor is there?
I recall a "reliable source" saying that Worf was to die in DS9's final episode while killing Dukat in the DS9 finale.

Sounded plausable at the time but it was, of course, total bullshit.

Yes, technically, it was Sisko...

I sincerely hope that they DO NOT cancel "Enterprise". This is coming from someone who vehemnently objected to a 5th series. Season 3 has been fantastic (from what I have seen *downloaded*) BRILLIANT even. There have been some episodes that rival the best TNG and DS9 - even in Season 1 and season 2.

"Regeneration" - the episode I thought I was going to hate with a passion actually was one of the best Borg episodes in YEARS - probably better than all the Borg episodes of Voyager... in that episode I actually was again worried about the Borg and not just "oh they'll press the reset button".

I love Hoshi Sato - they need to do SO much more for her.

If the cancel Enterprise - after cancelling ANGEL (is it too late for Angel - can it be saved?) I'm gonna be mightily pissed off.

Here's a new show: A vampire fights to save television shows - helping the helpless fighting against evil television studios.
