I noticed something interesting when i was watching ST:III the other day. There is the scene where Kirk is talking to Morrow in the Starfleet bar, and the waiters seem to be wearing an as yet un-recorded uniform variant. At first i thought they might just be Starfleet-y looking clothes, but in the opening of the scene (Which begins with a closeup of MOrrow's face), you can clearly see the sleeve of the waiter waking by.. he seems to have either the fabled light blue department color, or possibly the lavender gray ops color. He is wearing the pin of one fo the petty officer ranks (a silver octagon, hollow). The uniform itself has maroon pants, and a black jacket with a maroon strip up the back and maroon wrap around the bottom, and has a Starfleet belt buckle.
Just if anyone has a uniform page and want to research it (I'll be posting my page with it someday).. and ill check how it compares to the ST:VI waiters uniforms.
Any idea what the light blue color would mean according to Bob Fletcher's notes?

If it is a Starfleet uniform (and I'd have to go back and watch my tape to have any idea what you're talking about) it could be some kind of special services division. Cooks, waiters, shipboard services...stuff like that (someone's got to clean toilets). Or it could be something specific to Starbases. They are still on the Starbase at that point, yes?
I ordered images of the two waiter uniforms 2 weeks ago but I got just the STVI uniform:
Maybe I get the STIII uniform in a few days.

Wow, this stuff is really going to the Realm of the Alarmingly Obscure.
Remember to add to your wish list the n+1 variants of crew fatigues seen on the ship corridors in early TOS episodes, and you have doubled your gallery size at one stroke.

*wonders what this has to do with starship or technology...*

Lt. Shark draws uniform, which aren't in the Mag or in the Fact Files, for my site.
