Are not there any non-Starfleet, or civilan, styles? I always see the badge as a accroument of the uniform and seeing a non-Starfleet person wearing one is like seeing a civilian sporting a combat medal on their jacket. There is nothing really wrong with this, but I would think that comm badges would come is different styles. Suppose Garak or Neelix didn't particulary like the standard comm badge design and wanted something more conservative that didn't claim ties to Starfleet. Would they have a choice? And how do civilains 'call' each other when they are out and about. With the popularity of cellphones today I would imagine that people in the Trek world still communicate in the same manner. It would be nice to see a personal comm badge here and there.

Since comm badges are non-expensive props, I would expect to see many more versions of them.
