On tonight's Voyager episode "Relativity", Seven travels back in time to a period when Voyager is still under construction. Supposedly, we'll get to see many different ships at different stages of construction.....maybe even new ship names and regestries for those ship nuts. I personally will be interested to see how the shape of the outer hulls take shape. I

so, where was Voyager built? Utopia Planitia? or was it McKinley Station? but wasn't McKinley station - the spidery looking structure we saw in "Family" TNG??
So how would we see new ships??
If not - what other orbital shipyards are there in Earth's orbit?
Where was the Enterprise-E built? Earth or Mars?
She should either be in final stages of being built at the time of 'Relativity' or out on its shakedown cruise...
Does anyone know the design timeframe for the Sovereign? Is anyone getting sick of seeing so many new ships? I mean this is getting a bit unrealistic since the Galaxy class took at least 15-20 years to build, either it was a radically new ship, or the Sovereign, if it has a short design timeframe, not a very 'new' ship in terms of new technology etc...
Maybe the Galaxy is as advanced for the time as the Excelsior was in TSFS and then between the Excelsior and the Excelsior refit or the Ambassador class there wasn't much of a time difference...
Maybe in Relatvity the Defiant is being taken out of moth balls? should place it just before Season 3. Also, we could see Data's scout ship and/or the holoship, but they seem to be ultra new designs.

Voyager was constructed at McKinley Station in Earth orbit, however the scene in "Relativity" was at Utopia Planetia.
And no, I dont get tired of seeing new classes....what do you want...the same old galaxies and excelsiors all the time?
And as for the construction time frame....I dont care what any tech manual says....there's no way your going to convince me it took 15-20 years to build a galaxy class ship.

What I meant by new classes, is why can't we see older named classes - Cheyennes/New Orleans etc etc. not brand spanking new ships...
and a Galaxy being built would be nice to see apart from the out the window shot of the E-D in "Booby Trap"

looks good, bit higgledy-piggledy but cool - I what is that huge one where you can see the space frame in the bottom right hand corner? and are those the resident space stations - or new space stations being built - I'm guessing they are the resident space stations - pity there were no more Intrepid class ships...
maybe there was - some of those background pics were pretty fuzzy.

I just got done watching Voyager and it was not bad. Voyager was built at UP and in the background you can see several ships including some akiras and galaxies. I love time loops.

My mother coined a term for this kind of show-"Voodoo Voodoo Hoodoo". I like that phrase. As for the episode, my own feelings, I didn't care much for the show. The only thing I liked was the USS Relativity. (The dedication plague solved the issue of name prefix-UTS or USS. Didn't anyone find the plague, besides me, interesting?) Starfleet has a class of ship which is both beautiful and graceful. This is my favorite class of ship.

I write a letter to Mr Sternbach about the episode "Relativity"-the drydock sequence, the dedication plaque for the USS Relativity. His response-
"Usually in a shot like the shipyards, the CGI guys just rubber-stamp ships in and we never need to know what specific ships they are, but just that's its a busy place. Excelsior class ships are probably being maintained like B-52s, which are supposed to be maintain, I hear, until 2060. That's over 100 years from the time the first Buff rolled off the lines, so old starships aren't so farfetched. Don't have the specifics on the dedication plaque, sorry. Rick"

The dedication plaque of the Relativity was shown in the middle (around 31 minutes into the show) of the show when the Leuitenant of Relativity was talking to Seven.

Concerning where Voyager was built, Janeway mentioned that Voyager was in drydock. My guess is that Voyager was already in her testing stage, almost ready for commisioning. Voyager was just making a stop at Utopia Planitia for some final tests and to pic up the good captain.
Other things: There went the 12 Galaxies theory. It appears more Galaxies were buing built in 2370. The first 6 Galaxies should have already been completed. Of course, it is also possible that these may have been the first set of ones in storage that were being brought back out.
Why do all the ships look like they are already done? If their done, then why are they still sitting in their construction thing?
As for Federation Construction Yards, here is the list:
San Francisco (TMP, etc) Earth Station McKinley (VGR, etc) Spacedock 1 (DS9TM) Starbase 134 (DS9TM) Copernicus (I think the Hathaway said Copernicus) Utopia Planitia (TNG, etc) Antares (DS9, etc) 40 Erandi-A (I think the Brattain said this one)

Matt, you just contradicted yourself! You just said that the presence of Voyager in a drydock doesn't mean it was being constructed in Mars orbit, then went on to say that the Galaxy in a neighbouring drydock was! It too could be being refitted. . . or maybe it's one of the six spare hulls being de-mothballed to replace the Enterprise or the Odyssey - heck, even the Yamato!

Whether those Galaxies were being constructed, refitted, repaired, or whatever, I am of the believe that Starfleet would build more than the 12 original Galaxies. Of those original 12, at least 3 have been destroyed. The Federation is vast and while Starfleet has hundreds of other vessels, I believe that more than 12 would be required. But thats jsut my opinion....

In the latest issue of Star Trek Magazine, there is a photograph of a fleet of Starfleet ships. There are five Galaxies in that photograph. Further, in "Sacrifice of Angels", Capt Sisko speaks of twelve Galaxy Wings. I believe that there were twelve Galaxy Class starships commanding sections of the fleet.

The Hathaway Dedication Plaque did mention the Copernicus Ship Yards, which are based on Luna. Since this is the only mention and the USS Hathaway is very old, I would surmise that the Copernicus Ship Yards were retired just prior to the completion of the Utopia Planitia Yards. Other shipyards-In the TNGTM, the shipyards for the shuttlecrafts are mentioned. Can anyone find that reference? A Sidebar: In last year's episode, "In the Pale Moonlight", the Romulan senator mentioned that the shipyards were damaged by the war and were slowly recovering. Could the Dominion have hit Earth before this year? The Sol System has a great many shipyards. As for the list of shipyards, I don't believe that we have a definitive list of all shipyards.

Sisko didn't specifically speak of twelve Galaxy wings...he refered to something like Galaxy wings 9-1 and 9-3. Although i do agree that these were probably smaller divisions of the fleet, each led by a Galaxy.

Yeah, I too reckon that Mars should be terraformed in at least some way - "Lifesigns" had Doc and the Vidiian lady in a car - i know i know on the holodeck - but it had plants and stuff around them
We know that that Scottish planet Caldos - was terraformed over 100 years ago "Inheritance" TNG
In "Mosiac" - which I just finished both that and Pathways are great books, Kathryn and Hobbes swam on Mars - even went diving - I think those two books should be canon...

Boris-did you get the class of this ship? BTW, the first registry you mentioned is the correct registry. The last number is not shaped like the third number. If the ship is the fourth to carry the same registry, is the registry of the 28th or 29th century? (So much for the statement from the encyclopedia about ships carrying suffixs being strictly Enterprises. There now appears to be two others-the USS Defiant and the USS Relativity.) I have a question about the dry dock. Is the partly built saucer, shown before the Excelsior Class ship, that of a Galaxy Class ship?

In "All Good Things..." Mars has white clouds and speckles of green, as far as I can remember. I think it was in the far-future, when they took the Pasteur.
I mean, think about it: you got a huge planet to completely change it's atmosphere, it's land, etc, etc. It's gonna take time...alot of time.

Ok, the line beneath the registry has words "Stop to Enter the Room". The line after that says "United Federation of Planets", and the line after that has 'Copernicus' in it, as far as I can see.

Well, I e-mailed Okuda because I figured he had something to do with the plaque, and he replied with this:
Thanks for the note.� Unfortunately, I don't have my files from the show immediately available.� (I think the ship was a Wells-class ship, and I may have given it a slightly different prefix instead of NCC, but I don't immediately recall).� If you'll e-mail me after June 1, I'll be back at work and will try to look it up for you.

Well, I fairly certain that the middle letter is a 'C', but the third one looks different, and the first one could be an 'N', but it looks a little like a 'V', also. However, I definitely think the last letter is not a 'C'.
Also, I'm pretty sure the second-to-last number of the registry is a 7, and th last looks kind of like a 3, but I can't be sure of the others...
