I recently purchased the computer game Starfleet Command, and have noticed that ship classes are not listed. Are there classes that correspond with the designations? If so, What are they?

For reference, here are the different designations I've observed so far.

-CA
-CA+
-CC
-CC+
-CAD
-CAR

-DD
-DD+
-DDG

-FF
-FFD
-FFD+
-CFF
-CFF+
-FFG

-DN
-DN+

-NCL

Okay, the BCG is Kirov class, the BCF is Bismarck class, and the BCJ is New Jersey class. Now, in Klingon Academy, I think the BB is Yamato class.

Ultra: RTFM (Read the "fine" manual)

In short, every one of those designations fits inside the four "blanket" types (Dreadnought, Heavy Cruiser, Light Cruiser, Frigate)
Inside those "blanket" classes, fit the classes that we are more familiar with. For ex: The heavy cruiser "blanket class" contains the CA (Heavy Cruiser/Pre-refit Constitution), CC (Command Cruiser/Refit Constitution), and the BCG (Battlecruiser/Excelsior). In addition, each one of these subclasses contain various possible refits and variations.
I believe there are literally dozens of subclasses for each race.
Making the problem even worse, is that each of the six different races uses different "subclasses", making it even more difficult is that the next game will add more fighter classes and patrol boat classes. In short...give up

Since SFC is TOS, and there isn't that much emphasis on ship classes as in names "Constitution, New Bedford, etc. ring to mind", I believe those markings just indicate variations of Frigates, Dreadnaughts, Cruisers, etc.

SFC has to rank up there with BOTW in Trek games. Though being insanely difficult (5 minutes to load a torpedo while running away from an enemy ship, or at least that's my personal experience), at least it doesn't have many gaping flaws.

Once you get the hang of it, it's not that hard. Just remember, your enemy takes as long as you to reload

If you can get hold of a copy of the game Starfleet Battles, these designations are explained. SFC is based on SFB but eg. CA is Heavy Cruiser, BB is Battleship...
