Berman annouced that the series was set around a starship.. but thats about it. Assuming they are using a current design (which is probably unlikely) which class would you want it to be.My vote: Akira-Class. Freggin powerful and a beaut too. ------------------ Wes Button Wes1701E@hotmail.com TechFX Studios The United Federation Uplink ------------------ Janeway: "Dimissed" Neelix: [stands there dumbfounded] "b..but.." I agree, an Akira-Class ship would be very nice.

Guys ... It's not set in the current time-period. It's set in the past, but it's not "BOTF" (think of it as a "prequel" to TOS). Akira-Class didn't exist back then. Besides, TPTB always design a "new" starship for the show. ------------------ Star Trek Gamma Quadrant Average Rated 6.27 out of 10 Smileys by Fabrux (with four eps posted) *** "Oh, yes, screw logic, let's go for a theory with no evidence!" -Omega 11:48am, Jan. 19th, 2001 **** "The candidate who slimed John McCain in the primaries and smeared Al Gore in the general election is now the president who pledges to elevate the nation's tone and bring civility to our discorse. My top 3 choices are: 1) Akira-Class 2) Steamrunner-Class 3) Saber-ClassThere is no proof that it's a pre-Tos series! I've heard many rumors about what the series will be about. My two faveorites are the anthology series rumor, and the rumor stating the STV would focus on the Federation special ops. ------------------ If anyone has a Star wars action fleet E-wing starfighter or Tie defender toy they want to sell, please E-mail me at areas-4@excite.com [This message has been edited by MIB (edited March 02, 2001).]

If you re-read Wes1701E post, he says if they were using current designs. Now, if they do go Pre-TNG, I would really like to see the Excelsior Class as the primary ship.------------------ "You left spacedock without a tractor beam?" They tried that already - a space-based hospital show called "Mercy Point" or something a couple years ago. I've never seen it, but reports say that it was terrible. They'd never retread anything like re-using an old starship design as the main ship. There's little newbie-attraction value in it, no matter how much tech heads like us want it. Mark ------------------ "Why build one, when you can have two at twice the price?" - Carl Sagan, "Contact"

So I guess having an Akira as the primary starship is unlikely huh? Darn it. By the way, could somebody put more responses in my 'Is this worth anything' post in the officers lounge. I don't think they'll use a 'unnecessary pleading for responses'-class ship in the next show. Good point, though.------------------ "This is such an amazingly minor complaint. I hope for Star Trek sake that the next ship isn't the largest, most powerful and the most advanced ship ever built. A ship that could destroy an entire Borg fleet with a single finger.I'm hoping for a Akira class or even an Ambassador class. If they were going to do a 23rd century show then a Excelsior class. This way we get to see that STVI syle bridge again and mayb the Enterprise maybe. ------------------ Predict the unpredictable, but how do you unpredict the unpredictable?

I think it is a safe bet that the ship will be something we have never seen before. TNG, DS9, and VOY all featured a new and radical ship each. The producers will want something "different, yet the same". They will want to appeal to the larger newbie audience and the general public, with we the hard core trekkers being kept in that back of their mind. I think the new show will prolly be a compromise between those audiences. Expect, then, a different, new design, maybe with a different, new concept. For example, a medical ship, small little patrol ship, or something to that effect. It is safe, I believe, to rule out any big bad ass ships like the D and E, and I doubt the new ship will be a ship of exploration, too, as they just did that with VOY. That's my two cents anywhoo...Lance http://thetrekker.homestead.com ------------------ TheTrekker's Officer's Bible: A Concise Review of the Starfleet http://thetrekker.homestead.com

> Security Chief Aisha Klan-Klan? There's a thought...LEAKED DOCUMENT FROM PARAMOUNT DETAILS SERIES V CONCEPT This email was sent to our editorial department by the Paramount janitorial staff. The email claimed that this document had been picked up from writer-producer Brannon Braga's desk earlier this week. Star Trek: X.G.P. The USS OUTLAW STAR is not the fleet flagship, songs are not sung of her deeds, and she has yet to save the Federation. The OUTLAW STAR patrols outlying sectors of the Federation, working mostly to protect Federation shipping from Orion pirates. CHIEF ENGINEER JAMES HAWKINGS somehow manages to keep the aging ship in working order, with a little help from the engineering staff of exocomps. He also acts as the captain's conscience, providing a sane second opinion when it is (all too often) necessary. FIRST OFFICER "TWILIGHT" SUZUKA keeps her cool in any situation. To her, there is no situation that calm thinking and supreme skill cannot handle. While she has both, she only wishes the rest of the crew did as well. SECURITY OFFICER AISHA CLAN-CLAN enthusiastically maintains the safety of the ship's crew... whenever she isn't the threat herself! Despite being royalty within the Ctarl-Ctarl, she's decided to make an honest life for herself in StarFleet. COUNSELLOR MELFINA was granted Federation citizenship despite being a genetically engineered being, therefore being a walking violation of the Eugenics laws. Just the same, she manages to keep the ship's crew sane. Or, at least, she stops them from losing what sanity they have left. CAPTAIN GENE STARWIND has no tolerance for pirates, but otherwise has a love for life surpassed by few. For Gene, the ends usually justify the means, and freedom is paramount. On the edge of the Federation, actions speak louder than words, and GENE STARWIND is just the man for the job. (insert more clichs here) When asked to confirm this information as being an accurate description of the fifth Star Trek series, Executive Producer Rick Berman simply stated, "Sore wa himitsu desu," and refused further comment. -------- Outlaw Star is a wicked show. The full title, or the one that's on my t-shirt anyhow is "Future Hero Next Generation Outlaw Star". See? Next Generation. It's demanding to be crossed-over with Trek!
