Hi, I just watched (most of) Amok Time the other day... OMG that episode was full on AMAZING! Anyway... the Admiral that was mentioned a few times... or was it a Commodore - Uhura mentions him at the end giving permission for the Enterprise to detour to Vulcan. I don't know if we actually SAW him - I missed the start. But what was his name - it sounded VERY Vulcan. Which would also make sense as to why he would grant the detour to Vulcan.
