I think I;ve come up with a solution to the inconsistency of old-fashioned 'lasers' in "The Cage".The evidence comes from the Temperal Room in "Broken Bow". When Sigil fires the phase pistol, we first see some kind of conduit forming, before the actual 'phase beam' is fired. Now, what if the "The Cage" lasers use high-energy lasers to make that conduit? That way, the conduit is created faster (the phase pistol conduit clearly didn't go at lightspeed, I assume it is a form of plasma), and possible more accurate. Sure, why not? I'm of the opinion that some time after "Enterprise", Phase Pistols came into wide use but were still called lasers by most people, for the simple reason that "Phase Pistol" was too cumbersome to say all the time. Mark

"When Sigil fires the phase pistol, we first see some kind of conduit forming, before the actual 'phase beam' is fired." Who shot who in the what now? Are you thinking of when he fires at Archer, and Archer sees the beam and jumps out of the way? That had nothing to do w/ a "conduit". That was because the temporal chamber had (as they called them in the script) "future echoes": you could see what was going to happen a second before it actually happened.

You can see examples of this when Archer waves his arms around. If anyone remembers my rants about when Enterprise was to be released in Australia(which is quite unlikely), will wonder why im posting in this type of topic. Ofcourse it will be released here when hell freezes over. I got impatient and downloaded it. [ October 19, 2001: Message edited by: Kosa ]

Oh, great. Another theory down the drain. Back to square one.

The theory isnt down the drain. It still fits the facts at hand, someone has simply disproven your point of evidence.
