And what about the uniform color? Is this a reuse of some "The Cage" or "WNMHGB" costuming, with the turtleneck removed and with the black collar there only as the result of the man wearing a black undershirt?

Dunno. He could just be an Ensign who has no rank insignia on his sleeve.

At least we have ourselves a new insignia though

I couldn't get anything better off of my DVD. I think it's just going to stay obscure...
