When Voyager returned home to Earth in Endgame I was wondering was any new CGI models used to create the fleet of starships or were they exisiting models used in previous episodes.

With unchanged registries according to Rob Bonchune, so you'd have several NX-74205 Defiants etc.

Luckily they were so small for the most part that most of us couldn't read their reg number, otherwise I think it would have put the final nail in some of our coffins, after all that other cr@p in the episode.

all of the Defiant class ships in Endgame had the registry NX-74205, because the CGI team doesnt change registry numbers for big fleet scenes. Those of us that believe that ships should all have different registry numbers would find that offensive if wed seen it.
This gentleman in implying that it would actually kill those people if the registries were visible. Me, I'd be just a little perturbed.

You have to understand, it would be a total waste of time to change the ship reg if it will be impossible to read on screen! I won't be changing the ship names of every ship in the book unless you can read it, either.
I mean, do you fan your farts away if no one is there to smell it?

...was the Nebula CGI model meant to have so many different registries and names all over it? I remember from a series of pictures, we found that the ship has the name Honshu and number 60205 on the saucer, a 7XXXX number on the pylon, and USS Bonchune on the pod!
Also, are the Nebula CGI model's saucer impulse engines and more eliptical deflector dish a design refinement done by the modeler, or was the model "kitbashed" from the Galaxy CGI model?

agreed.. for the most part.. fans of ships registry have never recovered from the NX-74205 in 'What You Leave Behind' so our souls are weak however.
On the other hand, making a lot of trivial additions like ships registries is the kind of thing where you can pop up years later with the 'hidden truth' about ships that had registries we couldnt see.. thats one of the main reasons i like Sternbach & Okuda's publications.. they know what was on the ships when they filmed them and have them like a secret to tell the world

Regarding Ace's post, I guess you're referring to the Nebula class ship seen in the 2001 SotL calendar, which had "USS Honshu NCC-60205" on the saucer, "NCC-70915" on the nacelles, secondary hull and upper pod, along with "USS Bonchune". The picture referred to the USS Farragut.
I'm guessing that in that case, the model was built as one ship (perhaps the USS Honshu in "Waltz"), then got modified to another (like whatever ship showed up in the final ten episodes of DS9 - perhaps the USS Bonchune?). In the model's latter appearance, we couldn't see the top registry, but could concievably leave the pylon visible - hence the change to the name and registration of a Foundation staffer.

I totally understand not taking the time to do things that will never be seen. But I also have to back the point about being able to swoop in two years from now and say, "Hey guys...see that ship in the upper left corner...wanna know what it's name really was?"
That would be cool.
On a related topic, Mojo: Do you ever take out frustration at people in your work? An example: Alot of times when I'm doing an illustration, there are parts that will be blacked out eventually. In those cases, I usually take the opportunity to write something nasty about people I dislike at the moment in that area knowing that it will never show.
(Mental note...make sure these areas are blacked out before company comes over....)
