Remember those Conjectural FC designs that Chris Gough had made up in MSPaint, the ones where the Norway looked the same as Akira, sans Rollbar, and the Starfleet-looking Sabre? Then there were revisions, but they still were similar. Does anyone have these images still? I'd be interested in seeing them again.

Well, it's not quite what you're looking for, but here's the very first comparison chart done for UP1:
1 is recognisably the Steamrunner, 13 the Sabre; 9 and 15 are the other two - care to guess which is which? 8)

Huh. I actually really like that profile on the Sabre-class starship. It looks really cool -- really sleek and fast.

Well, in case you're wondering why the Norway is so wrong, it's a simple case of mis-identification: Goffy thought the Akira that pops up over the E-E and fires the volley of torpedoes was a Norway seen from below, leading him to mis-judge the angle of the nacelles (apart form the all the other, quite understandable, cosmetic differences).

The Norway does look awkard but it was a good attempt. The Sabre does look more sleeker than the Enterprise-E

As I recall there were two versions: The Blue wireframe on black initial attempts, and then the more fleshed out versions like the Akira and Sabre here.
So, does *anyone* have either of the full, authentic, Goffytastic versions? Someone must have.

Nope, not me. Never occurred to me to save them. . . Maybe someone else does, buried somewhere on their HD.

Goffy might, but all attempts to contact him recently have failed.

I'm not at home right now, but I will be tonight. And I'm sure I have all of the blue-on-black-background wireframe pics stored somewhere. I'll look them up and post them ASAP.

Hope this helps.

Wasn't there a fifth diagram? I think it was labelled "Hawking class", or something? I forget which ship it was actually a confusion for...

There were 6 classes. Hawking was similar to the Steamrunner, and then we also had a Defiant-like ship, that I guess was confused with the Saber.

Hm... Yeah, it does seem like there was a sixth one... Labelled "Viper class", or something like that?

There was one which was a misidentification of the Norway and a diagram of it appears on the Starship Schematics site called the Baracuda or something like that.

I'll have a look if I can find the "blue-on-black" versions of those classes.

IIRC, the Hawking was a misidentification of a Steamrunner, and there wasn't a diagram done fir it, just a couple of blurred screencaps that, when you looked for them on the actual film, were obviously a Steamie. God, the Viper and Barracuda, those take me back. . .

Heureka!
I've found and added the diagrams of the Barracuda and Hawkings "classes". They were indeed done. I even found an old Centaur diagram which I threw in just for good measure.
Here's the page again. [ February 22, 2002, 08:20: Message edited by: Austin Powers ]

That Viper from the SSD looks very familiar. I think that that's the one I was thinking of. I don't recall the Barracuda though...

Damn, I could have sworn no diagram was done for the Hawkings, especially since this one you've put up is so obviously a Steamrunner. Getting old I guess, memory isn't what it was. . .
Also, Austin, did you ever post at the old Commrelay at UP? And if so under what name? Since you seem to be an old hand just by having these pics. . . 8)

Sorry Vogon, but no, I hadn't posted in those days. As I said, I have been around for a long time, but I was more the "silent observer" type. (Which didn't keep me from downloading images of course )
And about the Hawkings class, well, even I was surprised that I still had the pic. (I'm still searching for an image of the Trinculo on some of my CDs for MMoM, but I'm not very confident that I will find one.)
