We've established the name of the maquis-raider class as being "Ju'day". Why? I just watched the episode and all I can see are different diagrams and blueprints showing the Intrepid, a concept drawing of some alien planet (maybe Bajor?), a sketch of the Maquis Raider, obviously a later version, the bajoran starchart from 'Explorers', another starchart, a model of the Raider and some publicity shots of the ships. Nothing new. So who came up with it and how?
There is, however, a viewscreen, showing images of Chakotay, Tuvok, Torres and some other persons. The screen reads 'Crew Manifest', above it, two notes: 'Vessel designation: 'xxx(?) Jane' (not Ju'day!)' - not sure about prefix, it was hard to read it; 'Vessel type: Maquis Raider'
Not entirely clear what the prefix was, like I said, but it was something like IVR or IVM or IMV or something like that. But one thing is clear: If the vessel's name really was 'Ju'day' and not 'Jane' (I'm pretty sure it reads 'Jane'), how do we know its class? We only have the classification 'Maquis Raider' from that screen.
Another one: Assuming for one moment the name of the ship was 'Jane/Ju'day'; what about the Fact Files claiming it was 'Zola' or Jeri Taylors novel saying - what? Freedom or something like that? At least none of those names. All three are somehow canon, so which one do we take?

Antares-class Liberty - According to Jeri Taylor
Ju'day was allegedly read off the papers in "Repression," and makes plenty of sense since Penny Juday works in the Trek art department and is married to scenic artist Anthony Frederickson, who likely was responsible for said pages.

OK, seriously, I really really really don't think it's an Antares besides the fact that I always assumed the ship's name is 'Zola'. And I can tell you this one thing: I have seen that data sheet nowhere in the bajoran's office. Nada. �berhaupt nichts. If there was a datasheet, they either removed it or it was in some part of the room we didn't see.
And what about Jane?

I also don't belive that the maquis raider was Antares-Class, mainly because it's such an unoriginal name...also we've spent a fair bit of time over at ASDB coming up with a design for the Antares that looks nothing like the raider
weither or not it's going to be the actually Antares Class ("Redemption") or just the "Charlie X" ship has yet to be decided...you'll just have to wait & see.

It wasn't read off the papers by us. It was stated in a ST: The Magazine article that the ship was identified as Ju'day-class on some displays in the show (after Fredrickson's wife) and we assumed it was probably from "Repression" because that's where all the papers concerning the raider were.

Well, of those three, the only one that would be considered canon would be the onscreen example. The Fact Files aren't and neither is Taylor's book. I tend to believe the events happened...she just didn't necessarily get all the details right Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Just something I proposed many a moon ago about "Antares"... Trying to explain the fact that we've seen a few versions of Antares ships...
Maybe, just maybe "Antares Class" is akin to the "Starship Class" as seen on the dedication plaque on the Enterprise-Nil... Picture a taxonomic hierarchy... like

Well maybe there are various SUB-classes of "Antares Class" ships... most probably freighters/cargo/transports where as "Starship Class" are different again. Starship Class can have connies, excelsiors, danubes, constellations, novas etc. etc. Where as Antares ships can have the Charlie X type ship, the Antares from Ensign Ro, possibly the maquis raider... (which could have originally been a simple supply vessel or something!?!)
