So, I was watching some recently downloaded episodes of Voyager and Enterprise that I had not seen, and noticed the following:
"Favorite Son"[VOY] . . . the ship type seen early on (before Voyager's escape to the Planet of Grasshopper Whores) is a Romulan science ship turned backwards and painted a more yellowy-brownish shade, compared to the standard Romulan green.
"Fallen Hero"[ENT] . . . the Mazarite ships are the top half of a Romulan Warbird, painted the exact same shade of yellowy-brown, and also featuring some extra techno-goodness beneath the wings.
On the good side, I must compliment the improvement . . . the backwards science ship was just kinda sad, but I didn't notice the Mazarite Warbird thing until I saw the little raised grill on either side of the spine. But, it could have used some more work to cover the area where it would normally join with the Warbird's "head".
Have there been any other re-uses of Romulan components?

Maybe the Mazarites later join the Romulans or are conquered and help build a fleet for the Empire.

Hmm.. Anyone got a screencap of the Mazarite ship?

That romulan science vessel also had a round disc inserted in it's 'nose' section.
What is with the CGI ships being reused!?! Is it that hard to create a new ship-of-the-week!?! And if they are rehashing old ships - I hope they are giving them a distinctive style. TNG and DS9 were great for this... the designs were all thought out thoroughly. I mean even that new Raptor class doesn't look THAT Klingon... it looks more like the Jemmie battle cruiser!!
I'm feeling that physical models still rock.
And I haven't seen the Mazarite episode - but are these Mazarites supposed to be the same race that was from TMP?? Spelt Mazaarites. I think then they are part of the Federation (in the future).

Andrew,
The Rommie Science Vessel already had the disc-shaped part on the rear...

That's Aaamazarites, Andrew. And some TNG episode had Mizarians. But the Mazarites are new, despite their very familiar sounding name.

The server seems to be down at the moment, but there's at least one there with a clean shot of the top of the Mazarite ships. I think similarities to the Warbird are only coincidental, actually.

Coincidental? It has the little grill sections as one would see on the top of the upper wing section of a Warbird, as well as the spine area (including the little peculiar hemispherical appendages coming off of the sides of the spine), the connection at the front where the Warbird's head would go, et cetera, et cetera, ad infinitum.
They chopped it at the neck, and at the rear where it would otherwise have connected to that upright portion at the rear of a Warbird, and somewhere along the wings (just a bit before you start hitting warp engine).
Also, I think I see Intrepid-style warp pylons, turned backwards, and slung under the forward end of the Mazarite ship's hull. But, see for yourself:

(Sorry about this one . . . I keep telling the damn thing to make the URLs uppercase, but it seems to be insistent that they be lowercase, and therefore non-functional. Grr.)
