Remember that ship? Is there any place on the internet where there is a schematics of this? I know there is one somewhere on SDD but the site doesnt want to come up.
Thanks

I think this is the only picture of it I have ever seen.

Wasnt there one with the pylons going forward?

There was an early design sketch of the E-E from the movie sketchbook showing such a vessel. When I checked shipschematics for the above ship if found a similar vessel.
Ahh, thank you Kyle that is (close) to what I was looking fer...

The reason I was asking was I was trying to show progression from the Galaxy class to the Enterprise G in Renissance. (The Sovereign you ask? He says hey found a major design flaw, and was canceled. Hey,dont ask me, I didnt decide that...)

Er, Enterprise G? Have I missed something?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....NO.

If you're talking about why they didn't end up going with the swept forward nacelle pylons, the goes story (as I recall) goes something like: They were all set to use that design when someone took a drawing of the dorsal view and drew two of those little things you put on legs of a whole chicken while it's baking on the bussard collectors. After that, it looked pretty silly.

Why? Sounds quite interesting.

Apart from the black things on the dorsal saucer what is so 'different' about the "preview sketch"? And what is so wrong with the supposedly incorrect MSD in FC?
Andrew

I don't know about the MSD, but the Enterprise-E had forward-swept pylons, until someone pointed out it looked like a chicken, and that image stuck with the designers, so they changed a little here and there to make it less chicken-y.

Also, on this preview sketch the bottom of the saucer is curvy like the GCS meanwhile the actual Sovereign saucer underside looks, well, unfinished as a certain bird around here would say...

I'm talking about this ship - not the 'chicken/forward swept nacelle' ship.

Is that a real thing then? It looks like an awful fanboy attempt at making a Sovereign mesh.

Wow, that's a long time ago.
This is indeed one of the first attempts at guessing what the Ent-E would look like. There were several iterations of it back then. But I think that almost all the pages which had those pictures are long gone.

Now that I think about it, I remember seeing that on the net in 1995!
Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :
It was done by that Lightworks website thingo (or cube3.net or something like that... fuzzy here. It was 1996)
Yeah, it was based off the MSD seen over Berman's shoulder in an interview and, or at least the later versions, the rear view seen on the teaser poster.

the saucer really looks like a stretched GCS saucer.
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
Not so much stretched as rotated 90, methinks.

Yes, I remember it being often posted to the real early boards... the 'inline' message boards with the purply nebula pic background... were they the UP1 boards?
And the 'problem' with the MSD of the Enterprise in FC was? Don't tell me it was the chicken ship - It would have been quite obvious.

"And the 'problem' with the MSD of the Enterprise in FC was?"
The Byu-zard Ramscoops, amongst other things.

Come on, I need that MSD pic!

Good for you. Maybe more whining will make it appear.

I know the teaser poster, but I never heard the MSD-story. AFAIK, the teaser-Enterprise was the Sovereign. Did you look for the interview at mdiatrek? They usually have stuff like that.

sorry to resurrect the dead, but i would also like to know the MSD story.
