Does anybody know where i can find info about these two classes of ships from Armada 2? thanks in advance.

Wait some days and you'll get a complete analysis of the ships, wait another couple of days and you may even get some good schematics, but if you can't wait, try www.armadauniverse.com . They have a ships section with some information. The best source I know. But if you have any specific questions, I may be able to answer them.

Thanks I was hoping for accurate technical specifications and the like, I was hoping Mad Doc released something with this info and it was on a site somewhere, but no such luck. So i then was looking for a clear side on picture so i could try and determine things like size and decks etc.

I don't think there has ever been something like that. And trying to extrapolate the sizes of the ships in-game is difficult; not that it wouldn't work, but all the ships are horribly off-scale. The sad thing is you can actually resize all the ships and stations quite exactly. Just a matter of simple modding. I could do it within an hour.

If its not too much trouble that would be greatly appreciated. If not then if you could just get me a screenshot from the side. Thanks, dude.

OK, this is it. You have no idea how difficult it can be to place them in a row.
Two shots, first a closer shot with names, second a shot from the top angle. This is as 90ish as you can get, a real 90 angle isn't possible. But I think the field grid should be a great help.
Of course, using the New Orleans instead of the Aegian would have been too easy.

While I think the Iwo Jima could be scaled nearly right judging by the windows, the larger-than-Akira Aegian is heavily off-scale. It seems to be a 150+ meters ship, not 450+ meters. And can anyone tell me how the flat Iwo Jima can carry more than 600 troops? I'd expect something like a cargo ship, round and big. This thing is just butt-ugly. *disconnects from the internet and starts drawing the schematic*

I'd have to say that the Iwo Jima looks like it had Vulcan influence in its design. Just my humble opinion...

I really dig the Aegian, though. Yah...the engineering hull is a bit long... but if we shortened that up a bit, I think we'd have a solid design.

it is im dying.. BTW, Magnus, speaking of me liking ships, we should talk about making a non-canon ship directory like we discussed a long PM ago.. i'll be back in school chained to a machine with Photoshop on it soon so we can probably do something interesting (and maybe get it off the ground faster than UP3!)
anyone else like non-canon ships (from comics and novels, like?)

Part of the Games-shiplist. If you have other game-only class schematics to contribute, feel free to tell me. (I'll also do the Achilles and Iwo Jima and others, but as you can see they will not as hi-res as usually. That would take far too much time if you concider the amount of classes.)

What an ugly bastard.
I'm not sure yet, but I think I'll release the rest of them when the list is done.

Dude... that Aegian schematic kills.
Posted by iam2xtreme (Member # 836) on :
Wow. That schmatic of the Aegian is top-class. I work it out as having around 8 decks. What do you think? Also what registry area do you think its from? I'd say the mid 60,000's.
Posted by Cpt. Kyle Amasov (Member # 742) on :
Looking at the saucer - the pattern looks Sovereign-ish (the dark areas where the impulse engines are located, the elevation). And the deflector-area looks like Nova. Since the Nova and Sovereign share the same design outlines, I'd say this is an early 70k-ship, something post-Galaxy-style.
The Troop Transport looks like 30k-40k, somehow I think this could be related to the Surak class (the one from the Encyclopedia, not the shuttle. )

Yeah i see what you mean. I was thinking the nacelles and the colours look like its that area. But now i agree with you. What about the decks though? also is there any chance you could do a schematic minus the nacelles? Also the windows on the iwo jima are really fudged up. Just compare the saucer to the nacelle pylons.
Posted by iam2xtreme (Member # 836) on :
Damn. The edit post time has elapsed. I have been experimenting with Alexs schematic and have worked out that the aegian class actually has 9 decks.
Posted by Cpt. Kyle Amasov (Member # 742) on :
Yes, I think something between 7 and 9 decks. And I think the Iwo Jima's larger pylon and body windows could actually be cargo bay doors of some sort. The model itself is totally fucked up; the extremely flat saucer (I enlarged it, it was even flatter than this) has more than 10 decks alltogether - 5 above, 5 below the rim and it has no bridge module. Don't know how's responsible for this, but I hope it's the only vessel he ever did.
Posted by Cpt. Kyle Amasov (Member # 742) on :
Don't ask me what's 'behind' the nacelle, I checked the model again and obviously the pylon connects to the neck in that area, in other words: there is nothing bot the pylon base.
Posted by Magenta Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :
BWAAAHAHAHA...
*points at the little workbee towing the nacelle*
Oh, and from the six view posted on the first page, it looks as though the pylons actually dip below the nacelles a bit then bend back up and plug into the spine that runs along the secondary hull.

Here are some more views of the ship. Damn Armada 2 SOD viewer, if I ever figure out how to change teamcolor and increase resolution of that crappy thing, I'll let you know.
The ship with the green color is the original A2 Activision model with hi-res texture. The other one is the same model, exported to A1 SOD-format, with cleaned up texture. I found it on my HD, part of my then-A1-mod (I'm doing an A2-thing now, but the old files are still there.). Sorry that I can't give credits for the unknown exporter.

why did Activision make the GCS's saucer so much larger than the Nebula's? i really like the look of the Aegian. killer schematic, Cpt. Kyle Amasov! give us a 5 view schematic, please!

On popular demand, here's a topview. More to follow (but probably not this week since there is so much to do for me - schoolwork, new computer...)
kill me for using (img) instead of (url)...

that kicks ass. great schematic. the ship kinda reminds me of the oberth, with the short saucer and the long secondary hull. i think that is my favorite orginal game design for a Starfleet ship.
Posted by Cpt. Kyle Amasov (Member # 742) on :
(Just BTW, the name is from the game but the registry is not official. The model had no name or NCC, so I had no idea how and where to assign one, but the larger font gives the impression of a smaller ship.
Oh, and the nose spotlight is done in PSP7, thanks for the suggestion. )
